Athens, Ga -- A leadoff double in the top of the ninth inning by Garrick Evans followed by a Travis Storrer RBI single helped Clemson to a 5-4 win over Birmingham Southern at Foley Field on Saturday night. The Tigers will face Georgia on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the regional championship.

Clemson (38-25) jumped out to an early lead on a two-run homer by Storrer in the third. Birmingham Southern (47-18) went ahead 3-2 on a two-run home run by Connor Robertson and an RBI single by Michael Cline in the bottom half of the sixth.

The Tigers answered in the top of the seventh with two runs thanks to back-to-back leadoff doubles by Evans and Sipp and and RBI single by Brad McCann. One more run by Birmingham Southern in the bottom of the seventh on a Michael Wydner RBI single tied the game at 4-4.

Evans led off the ninth for Clemson with a double to rightfield and scored the winning run.

"I have a lot confidence in this team," said Clemson head coach Jack Leggett. "I hope we're ready for the challenge, I know I'm ready. BSC is a good, scrappy team with a lot of weapons. They never gave up. They have a lot to be proud of, and I'm proud of us too. (Jeff) Hahn did a nice job for us and Patrick too. We scored some runs, got some big hits and hit the ball hard. I was pleased with how the team responded."

Clemson starter Jeff Hahn worked six innings in the no decision. His reliever, Patrick Hogan (3-3), earned the win on three innings with four hits, one run, four hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

"I gave a talk to the team," said Hogan. "I told the guys we're not out of it. We need to step and play. I tried not to think about how this could be the last baseball game you ever play and for some of us it could have been. I knew if I could hold the guys down, it would give us a chance to win. "

Robertson (5-2) took the loss for Birmingham Southern in relief.
