CLEMSON, SC - After winning four games in two days at the NCAA Baseball

Regional at Fayetteville, AR, #12 Clemson (41-25) now heads to College

Station, TX to face #2 Texas A&M (50-15) in a best two-out-of-three

series for a shot to go to the College World Series in Omaha.

The Clemson-Texas A&M Super Regional series will begin Friday,

June 4 at Olsen Field at 8 p.m. (EST). The Aggies will be the home team

in game one. The two teams will meet again on Saturday at 8 p.m. (EST),

where Clemson will be the home team, and on Sunday if necessary at 3

p.m. (EST). A coin flip will determine the home team for game three.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools on the baseball

diamond.

Both teams won two games on Sunday to advance to the Super

Regional. Clemson defeated SW Missouri State 8-7 and 7-5 to advance in

the new formatted NCAA Tournament, while Texas A&M, who is 30-3 at home

in '99, defeated Long Beach State 9-5 and 17-7 to make the round of 16.

Clemson's Khalil Greene, Patrick Boyd, and Ryan Mottl were named

to the regional all-tournament team at Fayetteville. Greene, a

freshman third baseman, hit a team best .611 with 11 hits, five doubles,

and 10 RBI in the five games. Boyd hit .429 in the three-day event with

two home runs and six RBI. Mottl pitched Clemson's first complete game

of the season in defeating Delaware 17-3 on Saturday. The junior

right-hander gave up nine hits and two earned runs while walking two and

striking out five.

With Clemson's wins on Sunday, the Tigers reached the 40 win

plateau for the 14th straight season.

The last time Clemson played in the state of Texas was 1997 at

the NCAA Central Regional in Lubbock, TX. The Tigers finished the

Regional 1-2.

Note: Clemson moved up to #17 in this week's Baseball America pol and

#12 in the Collegiate Baseball poll. USA Today Baseball Weekly will not

have another poll until the completion of the '99 season. Texas A&M is

ranked #2, #6, and #5, respectively, by the same publications.
