Register feels right at home in Clemson |

He posed for pictures with Clemson linebacker great Jeff Davis, he joked around with some of Clemson’s current players and he spoke with each one of Clemson’s coaches like he was already in the program. The 4-star 2014 prospect out of Greensboro (NC) Dudley told TigerNet later that he did indeed feel comfortable and at home at Clemson, and that was one of the biggest reasons he chose Clemson a few weeks ago, further bolstering a strong group of linebackers in the 2014 class. “It was the family atmosphere, and it was the closeness to home,” Register said. “I’m not a city guy. You look out across the Clemson practice fields, and you see the trees and everything, and I like that.” Register said he knew for a while that Clemson was where he wanted to end up, but wanted to be able to enjoy as much of the recruiting process as possible. However, the Tigers are taking a small class this season and he knew he needed to jump on board. “I knew this was it for me,” he said. “I knew this was where I wanted to be. But I wanted to enjoy the recruiting process a little bit. I wanted to take visits and see other places and make sure I was making the right decision. I love Coach Venables. He is fired up and very energetic. And it’s not just all about football.” Register called Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney a few weeks ago with the news that his recruitment was over. “I just called him up and told him I wanted to be a Tiger,” he said. “He was making sure he heard me right, but he was excited.” Register looks the part of a big-time collegiate linebacker, and said he can play any of the linebacker spots. “I am a MIKE [middle] linebacker,” he said. “But I can play any of the linebacker spots. I feel like I have the speed to go out on the outside, and I have the size that I can play on the inside. It’s really wherever the coaches feel like is best for me. The highest I have gotten is 235 pounds, but they are asking me to cut weight so I will be less than that when the season starts.” As a junior, Register recorded 110 tackles, nine tackles for loss, seven sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and three passes broken up. As a sophomore, he recorded 89 tackles, 8.5 sacks, two interceptions, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles in nine games.
