Some recruiting services have quarterback DJ Uiagalelei of Bellflower (CA) rated as the No. 1 prospect overall in the 2020 recruiting class, and some have defensive lineman Bryan Bresee of Damascus (MD) listed in the top spot.

National Champion Clemson has a great shot at landing both players.

Uiagalelei last visited Clemson for the South Carolina game in November and plans to return this spring. Bresee also was in for the South Carolina game as well as one other visit. He is coming in with his parents Saturday to be part of the Tigers' biggest junior day gathering for the 2020 class.

Clemson is in his final six thanks to the work of recruiters Todd Bates and Brent Venables.

"I've been able to get pretty close to coach Bates and coach Venables over the last year and this will be my third time on campus," Bresee said. "I've just kind of gotten to build a strong relationship with the coaching staff down there. It's been all positive."

The strongest positive for Clemson as it comes to Bresee is the success the school is enjoying on the field and off.

"Academically, Clemson is a great school and that's important to me, and now they are the best in college football," Bresee said. "How they really produce defensive linemen like Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, Clelin Ferrell, they just do a really good job with it. Talking with coach Bates, I'd be able to play a true defensive end in pass rush situations, move down to like a three-technique."

In his final six Bresee also has Penn State, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and Georgia. He visited Penn State last weekend. Without naming them, he said four of the six are recruiting him the hardest and stand out the most with him at this point. He said Clemson will get one of his five official visits and he doesn't plan to decide until after all the visits.

Bresee also plays basketball and he said Clemson coach Dabo Swinney was in recently to watch him in action. He said coaches from Penn State, Ohio State and Georgia also have been in to watch his games.
