Nation's No. 1 DT says Tigers need playmakers on defense

The nation’s number one defensive tackle prospect was in attendance for Clemson’s game at Florida St. last Saturday night, a game that he enjoyed thoroughly.

He also noticed that one of the two teams was in need of defensive help.

View Full Profile of Vienna (Ga.) Dooly County made the trek to Tallahassee and Doak Campbell Stadium to take in the matchup of top ten teams, and Adams told TigerNet Monday evening that he enjoyed the trip.

“It was a good game,” Adams said. “There was a good atmosphere and the crowd was all into it. I really thought Clemson was going to pull it through. Their offense played pretty well. Tajh [Boyd] and Sammy [Watkins] played pretty good.”

Adams said he noticed that Clemson needs help, especially on the defensive line.

“I mean, they need someone to come in and help them,” he said. “The coaches at Clemson tell me I could come in and play right away. They need playmakers on that side of the ball.”

Adams said he spoke with the Florida St. coaches after the game, and FSU delivered the same message – the Noles think he would be an early contributor.

However, he said he doesn’t think he will be making a return trip to Tallahassee, instead focusing on some of the other schools he is interested in.

That includes Clemson, where he hopes to visit with his mother for the Maryland game on November 10th, and LSU, Oregon and Southern Cal.

“That is really the only time I think I will go there,” he said of FSU. “I really want to make it up to Clemson for the Maryland game, and take my mom on that visit. I spoke with Coach [Robbie] Caldwell last week and he told me really wants me to come up there for a visit.”

“I don’t really think about that a lot,” he said. “He is a great player, and we would be great together. It is fun to think about, but that won’t matter when I make my decision.”

Adams has 18 tackles for loss and five sacks so far this season. As a junior, he had 84 tackles, which included 45 tackles for loss.
