McKissic Picks the Tigers

by -

CLEMSON – Two weeks after national signing day Clemson adds Opelika, AL defensive end Jacquez McKissic to its 2004 recruiting class. McKissic (6-7, 263) had spent the extra time trying to decide between Clemson and NC State.

“McKissic's signing is a very nice way to end a good recruiting class for Clemson,” said recruiting analyst Mickey Plyler. “First, it gives the Tigers yet another very talented big body which was emphasized by this staff. Second, it adds to Michael Hamlin and Akeem Robinson's signing day decisions to give the Tigers three they closed on late. He has a great frame and very big upside. This is a big pick up for Clemson.”

McKissic also had offers from NC State, Auburn, Louisville, Illinois, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Troy State, UAB and Alabama A&M. This season he recorded 50 tackles and 10 sacks. Clemson also signed teammate defensive back Adrian Kindred.

McKissic is the second late signee this year for the Tigers who also signed wide receiver Andrew Diomande from Miami, Fla a few days after signing day.

Clemson assistant Dabo Swinney recruited McKissic for the Tigers.
