Clemson’s version of the Three Amigos – the football version, not the movie vaqueros - visited Athens, Georgia, last weekend for an impromptu scouting trip to see the University of Georgia’s spring game.

“I just wanted to go and get a feel for what kind of players they have,” Boyd told TigerNet following Saturday’s Orange and White Game. “I know they have some great athletes and great players, and when you watch them on film, that’s one thing. But you want a chance to see those guys up close and personal as well.”
Boyd said he wanted to get a “close” look at his future opponent, and the game afforded him the perfect opportunity.
“Sammy came out there with me and Quandon came with me as well,” he said. “I just wanted to get a feel for the type of team they are. I think they have a really good team. A lot of speed. I know they have a lot of youth on the defensive side of the ball, but Aaron [Murray] looked really composed and led the team well. It is going to be a good matchup and I am excited about the chance I get to watch those guys in person.”
Boyd said while he cast an interested eye toward Murray and the Bulldog offense, it was the other side of the ball that he really wanted to see.
“Defense. It will be a challenge,” he said. “They have some great players. You can never fully understand the kind of players they have until you get on the field. But you can get the gist of it.”
Boyd said the trio tried to throw on some disguises but were still recognized by some of the kids.
“I had a hat on, some shades, threw some red on,” he said. “Some of the kids still recognized us. We wanted to get out there and get at least a half in, but we stayed until the third quarter. It was good.”
