Fast-rising Texas defensive back to visit Clemson Friday

Jalen Kimber boasts offers from almost every school that matters, but there’s one offer that’s missing and it’s an offer he really wants.

Kimber is a 4-star 2020 defensive back out of Mansfield (TX) Timberview who has offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Nebraska, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio St., Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M. The one offer he doesn’t have but covets is a Clemson offer, and he hopes a trip to Clemson’s campus Friday and a meeting with the coaches will show he sees the Tigers as a contender for his services.

Kimber participated in the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp Series in North Texas Sunday and walked away with camp honors, including the Adonis Award. That camp kicked off a busy week for Kimber, who will fly into Atlanta Wednesday evening and visit Georgia Tech in the morning and Georgia in the afternoon. Kimber will make his way to Columbia Friday morning and be on hand for the Gamecocks’ 7 am workouts, and then make his way to Clemson for Friday afternoon’s practice.

Kimber will visit Auburn Saturday morning and Alabama Saturday afternoon before flying back home to Texas. He will be traveling with his cousin, 2021 linebacker Chief Borders of Powder Springs (GA) McEachern.

What does he want to see at Clemson?

“I just want to meet some of the coaches and see how the coaches are,” Kimber told TigerNet Sunday. “I want to explore and see the facilities and stuff like that. I just want to meet the coaches and start to build a relationship with them and see how they do me. I want to see how I fit into their program and stuff like that.”

Does he think an offer will be forthcoming?

“I'm not really sure. I guess it will be me going up there and showing interest,” Kimber said.

What does he know about Clemson?

“I don't really know much but I know they're a great academic school,” Kimber said. “Seeing thing on YouTube and stuff like that, they care of their kids. It seems like a great place to be. I want to check it out and see if everything I’ve been hearing is true. They also put a lot of DBs in the league, and that really does make a difference.”
