Ed Scott's Hot Shooting Buries Florida State

by -

CLEMSON -- Ten days after scoring 30 points and dishing out

16 assists in a double overtime win over Wake Forest,

Ed Scott once again carried the Tigers to victory with

a 36 point and 7 assist effort in a 87-78 win over Florida State.

With a little help, the win gives the Tigers (13-15, 4-11) a chance to finish

in sixth place in the league with a win at North Carolina later week. The Tigers can

also still finish in last place.

Clemson led by as many 19 in the second half, but Florida State

managed to work the margin down to 80-74 with 1:31 to go.

The Tigers however, would make the lead stand up as

Scott would hit 7 of 8 free throws in the last two minutes.

"(Scott) had a great balance tonight of shooting and passing to Tony (Stockman) and Jamar (Mcknight) and making shots,"

said head coach Larry Shyatt.

Senior Jamar McKnight had 10 points in his last home game for the Tigers.

Ray Henderson added 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Monte Cummings scored 13 points and Anthony Richardson added 12 for the Seminoles.

The Tigers trailed by as much as 10 in the first half, but a 23-4 Tiger run

gave the Tigers a 41-30 lead at the half.
