It’s shaping up to be a battle between Clemson and Ohio State for one of the nation’s top receivers.

Four-star wide receiver Beaux Collins, out of Bellflower (CA) St. John Bosco, visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ game against Michigan State a week ago, and then made another cross-country trip this past week to see Clemson defeat Florida State in Death Valley.

Collins holds offers from LSU, Florida, Alabama, and pretty much every big-name program in the country, but this has shaped up to be a one-on-one battle between Ohio State and Clemson, and Clemson got to make its case this past weekend.

It wasn’t an easy trip – Collins played in Bosco’s 48-10 win over JSerra Catholic Friday night, grabbed a quick shower and headed to the airport with his parents. The trio’s flight left Los Angeles around 1:30 AM California time.

“We flew to Atlanta and then stopped in Commerce to get a hotel room,” Collins said. “We didn’t get to Clemson until midway through the first quarter. It’s one of the longest days I can remember.”

Collins watched the Tigers defeat Florida State on the field and then watched the Tigers and head coach Dabo Swinney dance in the locker room after the game.

“The locker room after the game was the best part,” Collins said. “It just shows me that just as much as you can be serious and dialed in, you can also have fun and still be among the best.”

Then came a quick session with wide receivers coach Jeff Scott.

“After the game, my parents and I had a little quick tour around the facility with Coach Jeff Scott before we headed out,” Collins said. “It was amazing seeing that crowd in person. And the way they stormed the field after the game with the players was very eye opening.”

What did his parents think about the visit?

“My parents loved it, especially my mom. And I will definitely be back,” Collins said. “If not for another game, then most definitely for an official visit. It was a long trip but most definitely worth it.”

Collins is teammates with current Clemson commit D.J. Uiagalelei, who lets him know he would love for them to play together in college.

“He talks to me a little bit about it. But he also tells me to do what is best for me,” Collins said.

Where do the Tigers stand?

“Clemson is extremely high on my list,” he said.
