Alabama commit on Clemson visit: "I'll definitely be back"

Quick says he wants to come back to Clemson for a visit

Everything about Clemson – the coaches, facilities, dorms, and players – left an impression on Pierce Quick and his family.

Everything except for Dabo Swinney’s famous slide.

Quick – the 4-star Trussville (AL) Hewitt-Trussville offensive tackle and Alabama commit – attended last weekend’s elite junior day along with his family and came away impressed with what Clemson has to offer.

“The visit was great. It was great getting to see all of the coaches again,” Quick told TigerNet Sunday evening. “The facilities really stood out to me. They are super nice. The dorms are pretty big. It was super cool to be able to run down the hill like they do before every single home game. That was cool to get to experience that.”

At 6-5 and 285 pounds, the only event Quick did not partake in was coming down the slide.

“We had the option to, but back in March when I went down it...I'm a little big and it messed me up. I was a little scared,” Quick said with a laugh.

The No. 33 prospect in the ESPN Jr. 300 and the second-ranked prospect in the state of Alabama according to ESPN visited Clemson with the intention of spending one-on-one time with the coaches and he was able to sit down with Swinney for an extended amount of time.

“We got to talk for a while. He's a good kind of different,” Quick said. “He's a really down to earth guy. He's open and he'll talk to you. He's really cool. I like what he preaches and all of that stuff. He just told me that they need me there and I'm a top priority. He's from Alabama so he knows all of the traditions behind Alabama football and all of that stuff, too.”

Offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell echoed Swinney’s sentiments about Quick and Clemson’s desire to have him play for the Tigers.

“Coach Caldwell was really with us the entire visit. He walked with me and my family throughout the whole thing,” he said. “His message was really just the same thing. He feels like Clemson would be a good fit for me and I could play pretty early there.”

Not only did Quick enjoy the visit, but his family did as well.

Everybody had a great time. They loved it. My little brother - he's in eighth grade - and he really loved it. He got the see the game room and all of that stuff, so he thought that was super cool. My parents loved it. My dad got a lot of one-on-one time with Coach Swinney and he loved that.

Quick committed to Alabama in April of last year over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi St., Oregon, Tennessee, and others. While he remains committed to the Tide, he said he will visit Clemson again.

“I'm still committed to Alabama and love Alabama but visiting Clemson, it was great seeing it and I'll definitely be back,” he said.
