Captain of the Spartanburg High defense the last two years...had 171 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and eight passes broken up as a senior, he led the team in tackles...Spartanburg High won 30 straight games with Means as a starting inside linebacker...those wins included a pair of Big 16 State Championships...a Tom Lemming All-Mid Atlantic selection...ranked among the top 30 linebackers in the South by the Plyler Report...state 4A Defensive Player-of-the-Year by the High School Sports Report...threw the shot and discus for high school team...awarded the Red Dobson Award, named to the best athlete, at Spartanburg HS...started alongside current Tiger All-American Anthony Simmons for Spartanburg in 1994, high school teammates Jarvis Davis and Brian Wofford are also in Clemson's 1996 signee class...played in state championship game victory over Dorman in Death Valley in 1994...played for Doc Davis at Spartanburg High in Spartanburg, SC.
