He helped Petal win the Class 6A state title as a sophomore. As a junior, he had 1,399 yards passing and 16 touchdowns and 1,253 yards rushing and 19 touchdowns. All-Area player of the Year and Mississippi's Gatorade Player of the Year for 2010. Class of 2012 ESPNU 150 Watch List Recruit. He was selected to the Army All-American game.
