I’ve been to many college football environments. I followed Clemson to every road destination a coupe of times including Athens, Ga, South Bend, In, and the armpit of the US (Columbia, SC). Every place has a good environment except one, the warehouse district housing a stadium with chickens everywhere. The only elite experience is coming home to Memorial Stadium, Death Valley, aka Frank Howard field. Meeting new football fans and treating them like family is the best part. I’ve fed fans from every ACC school. Shared bourbon or scotch with them too. No environment comes close to Clemson tailgating. The stadium experience is amazing. The shared experience of the fans is infectious. It spreads and grows as each individual feeds off the others. It’s 85,000 people mostly in agreement and the phenomenon has been studied in psychology for years. It’s what makes going to a theater to see a movie better than watching at home alone. Its shared experience and brain waves sync up making it surreal. No citations as I’m not writing academically here. Use google scholar to find your own sources. However, there nothing like being at home with 85k extended family members! We play in a top environment EVERYTIME we step on Frank Howard field!!!
