I hope there is already a jumbo package in place for BB! Few things excite the fans more than seeing a BIG guy like him smashing between the tackles for a big first down or TD. Agree?

I think the Jumbo package is more of a gimmick and was pretty much non-effective last year. We have the best back in the nation- let’s challenge the O-line to bust open some holes and use Etienne like the weapon he is built to be.

I agree with that. The jumbo package was more about rewarding a good guy in Christian Wilkins who wanted to carry the football a few times. It's not as effective as a real RB with way more quickness and athletic ability.

I dont disagree, but in short yardage sometimes brute force

is more effective than quickness and athleticism. The key is that brute force has to be comfortable in that role like CW. Last yr we really didnt have a guy that fit that mold due that it takes a really special player like CW to pull it off, and those dont come around often. I wouldnt mind seeing a jumbo package with a TE coupled with a FB in the back field. They certainly would be more natural to playing offense than bringing defensive guys over.

If he's that fast and athletic line him up at TE some. Let him smash some DBs. Just to "soften " them up a little.

I wouldnt call it a gimmick when we have the right personnel

Last yr it was more of a gimmick because of the fact we really didnt have the right personnel to run it effectively. It takes special players like Wilkins and Dex to run it effectively. Players that are both athletic and comfortable with the ball in their hands, and more importantly have good understanding/vision of the play call. If you saw cut ups of those plays, you would not have guessed that Wilkins and Dex did not have an offensive background and were defensive players, it was that seamless. We certainly had a high success rate with it. I can only remember maybe 2-3 times out of the many times we ran it being stopped. Last yr when we ran it, the players we used looked really uncomfortable with the ball and it didnt really look fluid. Unlike CW and Dex, the players we ran it with definitely looked uncomfortable and out of place.
I agree we have the best back, but sometimes in short yardage a little bit more beef doesnt hurt and can even make up for less than perfect blocking. If a guy misses his block, its a lot harder to stand up a 300 lb back with forward momentum than a 210-225 rb.

Agree but Jaylen Lay at H-back, Pinckney at FB and Bresee at TB is more in line with a true jumbo and dynamic quickness carrying the ball to get two yards

Agree with that. It was horrible last year and I will never forget Pitt blowing it up twice in a row to stop our chance to run out the clock.

of words that should be taken away from use. Time will tell on anything. In the mean time let's just say they seem to be as good as we've seen come in in a while.

Folks, don't be surprised by how much Bresee plays on the end. He's not just a tackle.
