MoFo hangs out with vagrants that flop in crackhouses.

Awesome find though, that thing could be worth a bunch.

I'm actually equal parts cynicism and apathy. I'm always willing to believe the worst as long as it doesn't take too much effort.

What's the mint mark. If it's an O that is New Orleans or if it is a CC that is Carson City. Those are worth more.

The mint mark is directly below the tail feathers on the eagle that is on the back. I'm not sure what years these mints were open off the top of my head but it was sometime around that period. New Orleans and Carson City both minted the Morgan silver dollars.

Just googled how much the coin is worth and very surprised it isn't worth a lot more. Anywhere from $20 to over $2,000 for a proof. Unless its one of the others the post above stated. You'd think a coin like that would be much much more. Still a great find though, I love anything historical.

it was very interesting. I'm not sure where it was made. I'll check it out. We may go back over there another day this week and see what else we find.

I hope it is in the $2,000 range. Myfavjr. needs new shoes!! :)

Great find, but I'll go you one better. While I was in Rehab recovering from a bout in the hospital, my wife got a call from a guy in Minn. He was in the Army and doing some metal detecting on a range at Ft. McCoy, Wisc. in June of 2017. He found a 1963 Clemson ring that I lost over 52 years ago when I was in the Army. The ring was still in perfect condition. He had to come to Atlanta on business the end of June and took the opportunity to personally return the ring.

Great story!! Congrats on getting the ring back.***

Thanks for the post. The Alumni news picked up the story from our local newspaper. This means a lot to me.

Your ex-wife.

And unlike the coin, she was not in great shape. Very awful shape, actually. Trap houses tend to do that to peeples.
