Will someone explain to me why Louisville felt

Aug 12, 2017, 3:55 PM

Cheated out of a victory this past year. I'm sure I missed something but it's quite clear he was driven out before reaching the first down marker and the wasn't any penalty seen or called. What am I missing or is it just A ploy by Petrino to be slimy?

They need some kerosene rags...

I saw the same game too.

I would not say he was driven. It was more of an assertive escort.

If I was a UL fan, I too would be convinced that had the receiver made an effort to reach the actual 1st down marker - then he would have made it. I put the responsibility on the receiver to know where he needs to go so UL fans do not have officials or the chain crew to blame. They were not cheated.

I will also say I was thankful he was dumb and chose to go out of bounds because our D was gassed.

I think NC State fans should feel much worse as that was a true choke job.

Great tackle by Edmunds, no way he could have made it, NCS

As far as NCState, is concerned they deserved to loss after purposefully taking Gallman out of the game(which Doeron admitted after game), furthermore, even if the kicker had made a straight kick it would have been blocked by Jadar who was about 4 ft in the air over the lineman with his hands 6 ft up.

Winners make plays, losers make excuses.

The refs only called have the penalties on us

Herkstreet kept saying the Lville receever should have...

Aug 12, 2017, 5:03 PM

"fought more" to get the first down: but how do you fight more when you're up in the air spinning in circles???? Textbook tackle by Edmonds....

Also, those Louisville receivers were absolutely exhausted. I doubt they could even see straight.

A huge part of their game was frantically running straight verts all game to drive the secondary deep for Jackson to scramble underneath. You can see none of them had much at all in the tank come the end; they'd already run 40 or 50 gassers on the night. That kinda takes it outta you.

Exactly right. He couldn't have run forward more even if he knew where

Aug 12, 2017, 5:41 PM [ in reply to Herkstreet kept saying the Lville receever should have... ]

The out of bound marker was. Edmond played him inside out so couldn't go in and then chose sideline and edmondbhit him right in the femur. You can't juke or glance off that. I sometimes don't understand why Edmond isn't in more or get more playing time because when I research some of the games besides the big plays he has slot of open field tackles using good technique. I wonder if he doesn't bust it as hard in practice or something BC in the ge like I said there are a lot of plays that don't look special and you may not remember but in the open field these would be big gains without his technique.

Who the heck are you to show up in this forum and question Shorty?!?

Aug 12, 2017, 5:25 PM

We won! There was no illicit activity already! Quit being so paranoid you bird!

Shorty did what he had to do. It was only happenstance that we also won the game. ONLY HAPPENSTANCE!!!

GO TIGERS!!!

The thing about that whole play to me is how far behind the line to gain the receiver was when he caught it. Edmond read it and made a perfect break on the play. I credit that play more to Edmond than anything the receiver did or did not do. I for sure don't think the marker placement played into the result of that play. Jackson threw it too far behind the line period.

I think their argument is that they thought the first down

Aug 12, 2017, 5:54 PM

flag, approximately two yards off the sideline, was actually short of the real first down yard. They claim their receiver thought he had made the first down, according to where he thought it was. Might be true, might not be true. Who knows.

It was an odd play by the receiver considering what was at stake. I'm sure I'd be p!ssed to if a Clemson player appeared to not give everything to get the first down. The cheating accusation is a way to excuse the receiver and the loss.

Unless I'm mistaken, watch the receivers body language,

he KNEW he came up short.

Re: Will someone explain to me why Louisville felt

It was 4th down and if I am not mistaken called a timeout before that play. Any good coach is going to tell their players "look the first down is hear we need this many yards" over and over again. If Petrino didn't reinforce where the line to gain was or that it was 4th down then that is on him. Rules state that there only has to be an official measurement on one side. There is a reason why the refs use the one side even if the ball is downed on the opposite side because the side the chains are on is the official side and the only one used by the refs to mark the line of scrimmage and line to gain. Edmond used perfect technique in that he used the sideline to his advantage cutting off the cutback. If the receiver would have cut it back he would have gotten it but people forget that Edmond played it correctly. BV did what you are suppose to do when needing 5+ yards on 3rd down and thats to send a blitz forcing Jackson to get rid of the ball quicker not giving the WR time to run their routes fully. The receiver that caught the ball was Jackson safety net in case of a blitz which was an underneath route which is what BV wanted. BV wanted to send the blitz to get the ball out of Jackson's hand and to make him throw the ball short of the line to gain making the receiver earn the first down. It was text book. BV sent the blitz the ball came out quick and the receiver caught it short of the first down and Edmond used the sideline to his advantage cutting the cut back lane off squeezing the receiver to the point of knocking him out of bounds a yard short of the marker. It was Petrino's job to make sure his players knew where the line to gain is he called a play that had a safety net built in in case of a blitz so he knew there was a chance the ball was going to be caught short so screw him if he didn't do what all coaches do and tell his players where they needed to get to. To be fair it could be that Louisville players are that stupid that they didn't know to begin with. I mean we are talking about Thug U.
