Which Defensive Player will lead in sacks in 2017?

Mar 21, 2017, 12:24 AM

With this Veteran, National Championship and Playoff tested front line, it really is a hard pick.
However, even though Lawrence won ACC Defensive freshman of the year.. I think it will be Ferrell who has a Big Season. Anyone who watched that Ohio State Game, saw what I what I did. A high motor pass rushing machine. I know Wilkins and others will have all have a Big year, but watch out for Ferrell.
At 6'5, 265, He's at that right height/build and motor to have a Beasley type of year. Maybe? I think He's ready.

Can't argue with that either. So much talent, this is assuming Ferrell plays DE, not so much OLB IMO. Really, it might not matter which position. He is Fast, Hits hard.

Ferrell is a DE all day

Mar 21, 2017, 2:00 PM

Although he plays the position more like Vic Beasley did. The NFL may look at him as an edge rushing OLB in a 3-4 system

Both ends will have a field day with our two inside guys getting doubled they'll have lots of one on one.

I hate to break it to the knucklehead writer that said that " Clemson won't contend for the ACC ".
With this Defensive line..In the backfield of all opponents. Taking down FSU &Louisville. Jackson or Francois couldn't handle it last year, imagine they won't be able to this year either. Ferrell will lead in that action.

Those teams still scored 36 and 34 points on us. We will need to do better to

Mar 21, 2017, 8:33 AM

win those games next year. I don't think our offense will be quite good enough to score 40 and win shootouts in those big games.

I do badly want Clelin's success to fuel Xavier's hunger that our defensive ends are literally a constant rotation of destruction all season long. And with both ends being speedy and strong this year, I see a lot more opening up for Christian & Dex in the middle. Not to mention the next line of defense will have two 5-star linebackers in the mix. Ugh. So excited

CUYankee , you got it man. " We're built in the trenches " Dabo Swinney. Can't wait to see what this line and LB's will look like in Fall..

Ferrell seems to be the popular choice, and that's tough to argue with. I think we may see 5 guys with between 8 & 15 sacks. There will not be a better DL in the country and to be honest, I doubt any front 7 will match up to ours. If our cb's can press on the outside at all, it's going to be an absolute nightmare for anyone that attempts to stand in or around the pocket.

I agree and hope for no injuries to the defense.

Who put the "L" in BrowneLL

I agree it will likely be Ferrell but...

Mar 21, 2017, 6:39 AM

don't sleep on Austin Bryant. He was poised to take over the pass rushing throne before getting hurt at the beginning of last season.

There is no doubt this years pass rush will be nasty.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Christian Wilkins will likely have the most sacks

Mar 21, 2017, 8:16 AM

fondled

That's a low blow.

Ferrell. He should get double digits if healthy

Mar 21, 2017, 8:29 AM

Lawrence might get close to double digits too. Wilkins is really disruptive but not a big sack guy.
