New Story: Humble Beginnings: From no sleep to Coach of the Year

Humble Beginnings: From no sleep to Coach of the Year

The early signs pointed to success, and Dabo Swinney just had to stay the course. Clemson’s head coach was named the Home Depot Coach of the Year Wednesday, a fitting honor for a man who has taken Clemson’s program to a national number one ranking and a spot in the College Football Playoffs. It’s also a sign that Swinney made the right decisions in the early days of his head coaching career. Full Story »

Coach of the Year . but as we older fans know.

That Dabo is rewriting our history. He will be a legend at Clemson. When you 19-20 year olds are in your 40's the name Dabo will mean so much more then you know. He truly is larger then life.
GO TIGERS!!!

Wow. I've thought the same thing. The younger guys don't remember the Ford days that made him so special to us!!

He's a keeper, for sure. I'm probably in the minority here, but I have read numerous posts in which people have said that the only job they could see Dabo leaving Clemson for is Alabama. My gut tells me that unless something REALLY goes south for Dabo at Clemson for some reason in the future, that he'll stay here as long as the University will have him, even if Saban leaves and Alabama comes calling. His (Dabo's) personality does not fit the tradition at Alabama, and I don't think he would be interested in trying to duplicate at Alabama what he is doing here at Clemson. JMHO.

I have said the same thing. At Clemson, he is "A Legend", but at Alabama, he will just be another of their very good coaches. Add to tah the spirituality he has and the fit he has at Clemson, and I don't think the culture there will allow it. JMO, but I think he is ours for as long as he wants, and I think we want him for a long, long time. Wonder how many coot coaches they will go through in that time frame?

For somebody who has not been to that many games, (27). It feels good to know I was at his first game. You could definitely see his fire right away. I'm just sorry we lost that game. My Dad was with me and he was also at coach Ford's first game. Wish we could come more than we do. Its an 800 mile trip

You know who was also

#88? Charlie Banks of the proud Texas State Armadillos, who caught the winning two point conversion from quarterback Paul Blake to beat the #1 Texas Cowboys!
