I had a coach in high school who had Ben as a player before coming to coach at our school. He always spoke glowingly of him. CU will miss this man and his Tiger spirit

What a great legacy....well done Ben! I will share your story with my kids next time the Tigers are getting ready to run down the hill.

The story about his final game and what transpired before , and how it ended was touching.

Thanks for sharing this. The story about "The Hill" should be taught to all who are Clemson. I had never heard how it had been revived.

That is awesome story & wonderful legacy! Maybe we should call it "Ben's Hill".

Thanks for the article. Until I read this I did not

realize that I was in attendance at the game that started the "Hill" tradition as it exists today. It was my first game back in the Valley after my return home from Viet Nam and remains the coldest and wettest I have ever been at a game. The wind was also so strong that the punts could be seen turning back toward the line of scrimmage after losing momentum when kicked toward the west end zone. A win over the chickens in any conditions is worth putting up with discomfort. I am sure Ben placed this game as one of the most special of his life for so many reasons.

Ben was a fine example for all who knew him. He lived it, and he made Clemson a better place. God bless his family. He will be sorely missed.

I was a sophomore at the USC game in '72 that we won 7-6 . It was cold and rainy with a little sleet at times .
I remember the Tigers running down the hill , but I thought the game ended with LB Jimmy Williamson batting down a pass for a 2 point conversion .
Ben Anderson one of many who represented so excellently "The Clemson Spirit " .
RIP. , Tiger
