truly a Clemson man on and off the field

Dougie was such a class guy that you wouldn't know that he was a football player unless you knew who he was. He never considered himself better than anyone and spent as much time amongst other students as he did around the players. He truly understood the privilege of being a Tiger and represented everything Clemson in an upstanding way. He worked just as hard in the classroom, and but took a backseat to no one on the field as evidenced by his work ethic that grew him from being a late bloomer into a 2nd round pick. Guys like Dougie, Stacy Fields, Levon Kirkland, Terry Allen, Jerome Henderson and too many others to name helped to make my Clemson experience great on campus and beyond on through the years...

Rest in peace my friend and in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father...

Very sad to hear this. I will never forget the 98-yd

return vs Maryland in 1990. Saved the day in an early season game and Tigers went on to a 10-2 season with a 30-0 win over Illinois on New Year's Day. He played on teams that went 10-2 all four seasons, 3 conference titles, 3-1 vs SC and 4-0 in bowls. Sounds like he accomplished even more in his life after Clemson. I'm sure so very many will miss him. My prayers are with his family and friends.
