It's very good. There are obviously positives and negatives to it, but for me the positives have far outweighed the negatives.

Learning a new language, immersing yourself in a new culture, etc is very, very graifying and I'd recommend anyone to jump at the opportunity if presented with it.

On the flip side, Brasil isn't the United States and that's a bad thing when it comes to things like safety, taxes on retail goods (a new iPhone costs about USD 2,000 here), and infrastructure problems.

It definitely depends on where you go, but if you get the chance to live abroad, go for it! Doesn't matter whether you're there for a month or a year, you'll open yourself up to something totally different and that's a good thing.

or one girl to stop dating an abusive boyfriend, it's well worth it. Obviously Dwayne Allen considered it worthwhile enough to participate.

Which brings me to the guy who wondered how much people get paid to do public service announcements. The answer is: Nothing. Zero. Nada. Zip. The celebrities, athletes, etc. donate their time.
