Anybody smarter than me

care to explain the nuances of OLB in a 3-4? Any criticism of Beasley I ever see boils down to he's not big/strong/long enough to get of blocks by better offensive lineman. Most people say that he fits the 3-4 scheme better, so I'm wondering how big a deal this criticism really is. On run plays are these linebackers still suppose to hold the edge like a traditional DE or are they usually in pursuit or coverage like a traditional LB?

I don't really get into pro football but Beasley looks like he do just as well against linemen as the OLBs in defenses like Georgia and FSU that run that hybrid.

The NFL is a passing league, half these eval's focus

The NFL is a passing league, half these eval's focus on a dying aspect of the pro game. Most of what they say is a moot point.

Yep, like those fat slow Bama LB's that keep getting drafted

5.6 40 and 265 pounds and they wonder why they can't catch an RB on a wheel route.

Seems to me like the hybrid DE/OLD in NFL 3-4s

is lined up as an edge rusher A LOT. Sometimes in 3pt stance, sometimes not, but very often right up there on the LOS.

Strength an issue?

The man is a beast in the weight room. Benches over 450 lbs! Now size I could see as a maybe until one pushes play on the tape. Just ask every OT that has been tasked to block him

You are spot on! They can't move quickly enough to stop him, and there isn't a QB in the league who can outrun him. The best part is that he doesn't take any plays off, and he is of great character. Obviously, not a huge concern in the NFL, but I do think they might want a player who can stay healthy enough to be somewhat of a factor.

He'll be an OLB in the NFL like Clowney.

He will mostly rush the passer but will be tasked with dropping into coverage at times.

He's not heavy enough to be a DE in the league.
