Awesome. I know he played for the wrong team, but I've got tons of appreciation for Charlie ward. Good to hear him with some praise for nuk.

That Warf went from winning the Heisman to playing in the NBA. What's the story behind that?

More money and less of a beating. He made the $mart choice.

He wasn't really your prototypical NFL QB but heck with his athleticism it probably would not had mattered. I don't recall exactly but he wasn't going to be a top Draft choice for NFL ( I could be wrong on that)

he was also drafted by the yankees and brewers as a pitcher***

He and bobby sura drove me nuts. He was a GOOD point guard.
A lot of people were surprised he chose bball, but it worked out well for him.
A lot of folks are saying this Watson kid we have committed reminds the of c ward.

Dont forget Sam Cassell was part of that team as well. They were a very good FSU team. I think they may have gotten to the Elite 8

He didn't get drafted and needed a job after college

May 12, 2013, 12:03 PM [ in reply to Didn't realize ]

so he played basketball

He would've been drafted in later rounds most likely

May 12, 2013, 1:09 PM

He came out and said that he was torn between NBA nd NFL and unless he was drafted in the first round he'd go NBA. If I remember correctly no team was going to take a shot on him due to both his statements about playing basketball and the fact that he was shorter than the prototypical NFL QB.

If he was graduating today he'd be easily considered for the early rounds because he actually had a pretty good arm and some serious wheels.

Ward played Basketball in the pros

May 12, 2013, 8:28 AM

instead of football bc he wasn't projected to be drafted higher than the 4th or 5th round. So he chose the sport that he would have the better career in and make the most money.

I'm getting old. I know the Ward story like the back of my

hand. Strange to me that people weren't aware of that whole Ward angle. He was a fun player to watch on the field and court.
