He has a chance, just not in big league camp.

What I'm saying is...it is very unlikely that his demotion was performance-related. He only played A-ball last year. He's in big league camp the first couple of weeks just to get a look at him and have a warm body available while the major league players are getting geared up. If he'd got 7-13, he likely still would have gotten cut.

Yep, they just wanted a quick look before sending him down.

Give him a little taste against a higher level then send him down where he can play every day. Next year or 2 years down the road he will have his shot. Maybe when they expand the rosters in Sept if he does well this year.

Invite to MLB camp is usually more of a courtesy extended to the young high dollar picks. Gives them a chance to experience the atmosphere and talent but the club knows all along there isn't much, if any, chance of the kids making it just then. Plus they also get to grab some MLB camp money (food allowance) which they do not get in minor league camp. Minor league camp is truly indentured servitude! lol
