I wonder if the article is accurate about the length of the contract. It would seem that both the Rockies and Colvin would want a longer term contract.

I think he's arbitration elligible

Which means that the team only really had to give him 1 year to avoid arbitration. Similar to what the Red Sox did with Ellsbury this year. Obviously they'd both want a longer term deal, but if the team only has to offer 1 year because of arbitration, they wouldn't usually risk a long term deal unless it was an elite star. Someone like Bryce Harper.

Right now he is under Colorado's control until 2017
