Ole Miss...something is up here***

What do you expect from the $EC? You can't blame them.

They have to cheat just to survive.

Re: Could not qualify for Florida and would not here******

Jan 21, 2013, 4:29 PM

That's exactly what I thought. I would assume Clemson has better or comparable academics so it's not a big deal since he probably couldn't make it here anyway.

Yet another thing I wish ESPN would mention about the SEC, that academic or lack of academic advantage.

Some kids just want to be the number 1 star of the show. And some don't mind losing. Losing is easy, and some just want to take the easy way out.

Re: Recruit Update: Former Clemson commit to Ole Miss

Jan 21, 2013, 9:41 AM

I believe that our high standards hurt us a little when it comes to recruiting certain high prospects because they don't care about their education, but at the same time I'm glad we hold ourselves to a higher standard because this sometimes gets a recruit so in hindsight its a 50/50.

Also, we not only send kids to the NFL but also with a Clemson degree in case something happens to them and takes away their career, they can still move on and have a plan b.

Daniels will never make it into school. He is JUCO bound no matter where he goes. If they get him into school then they really are ready for some NCAA banhammer

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good riddance. No offense to the young man, but his mother

Jan 21, 2013, 10:12 AM

and others have not made it easy. He would have been great for us, but I don't want a Nigerian politician meddling in the affairs of our football program. No player is worth that headache. We're going to be fine. Ole Miss is going to be 8-4 if they're lucky.

Your thinking of a different recruit ATL PAW MAN. This is Elijah Daniels. Our staff pretty much said thanks but no thanks to this guy. RN we would take in a quick second.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My bad for not actually reading and just seeing Ole Miss

Jan 21, 2013, 12:24 PM

You know the old saw about assumptions. Oopsies.
Regardless, we don't need drama. If a young man wants to be a Tiger, great. If not, there are plenty who do.

Sorry DUDE you are wrong on this one...

Jan 21, 2013, 10:18 AM [ in reply to Good riddance. No offense to the young man, but his mother ]

you might be thinking of Robert Ndkemdiche. Personally I don't get the whole not good enough academically thing. If he is good enough for one school under the NCAA guidelines then he should be good enough at all schools

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You bring up a very sore subject. The academic playing

Jan 21, 2013, 11:14 AM

field is not level. It's downhill for some and a little uphill at Clemson. We have this thing called the Academic Advisory Committee. In a few cases, they won't allow us to enroll a kid who could be admitted as a partial qualifier. It's rare that we can get a kid in that way. At other schools, the door is wide open as long as the NCAA will allow it.

Re: You bring up a very sore subject. The academic playing

Jan 21, 2013, 11:27 AM

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!! barker has LIED about this many times but it is still a fact.. UNC and UVA have admitted players that we refused!! this simply MUST STOP!!

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

UNC is corrupt. Who have we rejected for academic

Jan 21, 2013, 11:53 AM

reasons that UVA accepted?

Re: You bring up a very sore subject. The academic playing

Jan 21, 2013, 12:42 PM [ in reply to Re: You bring up a very sore subject. The academic playing ]

Duke and Notre Dame will not admit student-athletes that they do not feel will graduate. They will also expel student-athletes when they don't make the grade. I have witnessed this as a student when I attended both schools. Different schools have different thresholds for acceptance and continuance. You also assume that those who don't achieve academic excellence will achieve athletic excellence which is an uncommon correlation...a bad assumption.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: You bring up a very sore subject. The academic playing

Jan 21, 2013, 7:15 PM

This one time, Notre Dame admitted a QB from South Carolina who would not have been accepted at Clemson because he was a partial qualifier and the ACC did not allow any at that time. A few years later, they changed a rule to allow 2 PQs per team when FSU came in.

Well that QB won a national championship and also graduated.

For a long time, the ACC required a higher SAT score than the NCAA. So this other QB who was from PA, who really wanted to go to Maryland, ended up at Alabama instead with the MD coach's help. That guy won a national title (I think) and then won a super bowl.

And just this last Fall, a player who had signed with Clemson ended up not getting admitted and was headed to prep or JC before landing at Marshall.

Re: Sorry DUDE you are wrong on this one...

Jan 21, 2013, 1:47 PM [ in reply to Sorry DUDE you are wrong on this one... ]

You would think that would be the case but its not true for admissions at a particular school. The NCAA has its limits and the school itself has limits to qualify. The middle is the problem. Just like Ivy League schools. Two qualification standards are needed to be admitted.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Based on that ...

Jan 21, 2013, 10:16 AM

Im guessing he would not have gotten into Clemson either.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It was assumed that we pulled his offer a couple

Jan 21, 2013, 10:20 AM

months ago for lying to the coaching staff and also for poor academics.

Apparently Ole Miss is telling some kids that the school has ways of getting them into school when they wouldn't meet the standards elsewhere. It beats me whether or not that's illegal in some way...

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It was assumed that we pulled his offer a couple

Jan 21, 2013, 11:33 AM

dirty c$$ts do this all the time.. they tell recruits that they will "work with them" to get them admitted while we refuse to help in any way.. this is very effective recruiting tool.. also c%%t players do not have to go to class!! HUGE ADVANTAGE

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd love to see Ole Miss become a dominant program

Jan 21, 2013, 10:17 AM

face it, SOMEBODY in the SEC is gonna be a top program - might as well be Ole Miss, or Vandy. I'm pulling for those guys.

So you would would rather see Bama, LSU, Florida continue to play for championships every year? Or would you prefer UGA or (god forbid) SCAR? Again, somebody's gonna win the SEC every year no matter what.

Me, I'm all for Miss becoming an SEC powerhouse. Good for them.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I'd love to see Ole Miss become a dominant program

Jan 21, 2013, 10:19 AM

I'm sure as hell not down for Ole Miss paying for players that were supposed to be enrolling at Clemson in 5 months. I don't care who it is. You start throwing cash at our commits. I got a serious problem with that.

If nothing is done I say pull out the check book.

Are subject to the academic requirements of the general populace. I do think they should be, unless we want our universities to be football factories as opposed to educational institutions. But that's where we are today.
