Im trying to figure out why he is being negative about south carolina....his user name says State Champ so he must be a gamecock

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

well

Apr 20, 2012, 9:01 PM

I agree :)

South Carolina's stadium wasn't paid for by tax money.

It was paid for my bonds issued by the athletic department and paid for through athletic department revenue (tv contracts, tickets, seat licenses, etc...)

Re: well

Apr 20, 2012, 9:01 PM

sorry

"by bonds"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Okay then.....

Apr 20, 2012, 9:26 PM

How much will be financed through bonds? By the way, I think y'all should initiate a capital campaign to add some seats to the Hootie Coliseum/Basketball Depot.

Good...

Time to get this project off the ground. In the latest issue of "Orange: the Experience", there's an interview with Bob Mahony discussing this project and he said they hoped to have it done in 3 years. They don't HAVE three years. It needs to start at the end of this season or by this fall at the latest.

first step: privatize the university

Apr 20, 2012, 10:25 PM

that way we don't have to go through the mandatory 3-step process with the state legislature to approve a major project.

I can't thumb this post up enough

Although I know many people hate the idea, there are definitely some positive factors that would come if we made the transition from minimally supported state institution to private school. I know it will never happen, but there are times like this that I really wish it could be considered.

The state has almost done this...

Apr 20, 2012, 10:43 PM [ in reply to first step: privatize the university ]

thanks to the pathetic support in Columbia. And to think our idiot governor is a Clemson grad. Embarrassing.

They should offer a new minor with those majors...

They could be possibly a fast track to an entry level, hourly paid position with Walmart. Would definitely like to see a list of companies that would hire those majors.

Should get a Law School instead of Majors

Apr 21, 2012, 10:10 AM

Baffles me they have never thought about starting one. I know it's an engineering school, but still.

Re: Should get a Law School instead of Majors

Apr 21, 2012, 11:28 AM

No, no need to another law school in this state, there is a private one in Charleston that was recently accredited. I think we need a vet school. and those new majors stink. Next thing Clemson becomes a liberal arts school. Thomas Clemson is rolling over.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed...also need to stop downgrading ag program***

These majors (particularly religous studies and pan-african) pave the way for JuCo transfers due to credit hour transfer rates. This is actually a big deal.

And it a good thing the baseball stadium renovations were approved, procurement started about 6 weeks ago!
