"It was discovered that HS coach was marketing PSA to other collegiate institutions."

I wonder how much that goes on with HS Coaches?
And what does "marketing" mean? How much money involved?

That was Lateek Townsends coach....

Mar 16, 2012, 10:13 PM

paid his cellphone bill and marketed him to colleges

The high school league needs to publicly admonish that coach

Mar 16, 2012, 10:17 PM

I don't think they have much more authority than that. The coach should be ashamed of himself

Don't blame the coach! Did the player not know this was wrong!!!

The player was a minor - around age 16 when this started

it sounds like. I put more responsibility on the "adult" who was supposed to be looking after the best interests of the student athlete.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

It would seem that it would take a slew of Philadelphia

lawyers well-versed in Japanese arithmetic to wade through the myriad of NCAA rules/regulations. No wonder it requires a 24/7 Compliance Office. I have long wondered if it isn't time for a complete review with elimination of the most trivial. Secondly, although I understand the influence an adult usually has over the younger among us, the fact remains that the law holds an 18-year-old fully-accountable, as an adult. These student athletes are fully-aware of what they can and cannot do, so if they lose eligibility and/or are released from a program, then, perhaps, they should consider their own culpability before pointing fingers at others.
