flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually

Sep 24, 2010, 9:23 AM

anything above a 925 is fine and a school isn't going to suffer any issues.

below 925 is where a school has issues.

Hey, it is not like you have ever cared about academics at usc-least.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well

Sep 24, 2010, 2:31 PM

I care about them- but not so much with football teams.

I care academics with my children. I don't concern myself with them when it comes to college football teams.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, those young men are someones child

Sep 24, 2010, 6:02 PM

I am not surprised at your attitude about this.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Well, those young men are someones child

Sep 24, 2010, 9:07 PM

sorry - I don't walk around worrying about 18-22 year old college age men and their academic performance in college.

I concern myself daily with my children's school work.

APR doesn't win football games

Sep 23, 2010, 4:28 PM [ in reply to 6 ACC schools, no SEC schools . . . hmmmm . . .*** ]

Which is why you won't see any SEC schools on that list. I'm proud of Clemson for doing so well with the APR but the SEC is a win at all cost mentality and sacrificing academic standards is definitely on the list of things to do to win at all cost.

it is not an either or, we can and will be good in both.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree you can do both

Sep 24, 2010, 8:52 AM

I was just asserting that SEC schools won't try to do both

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So full of it. Remember UNC? FSU?

Sep 23, 2010, 5:06 PM [ in reply to APR doesn't win football games ]

All conferences have problems. Who cares about conference affliations?

And who said we couldn't be a monster in football as well as academics? Geez.

But it should help out with the recruits, that would like to be able to put two whole sentences together. And without them being covered with red X marks.

Recruits love Urban Meyer because he's vicious in defending them regardless of what happens - and families take note of that.

He's had a ton of arrests - but he's got 2 national titles.

their abysmal academics.....and it far transcends athletics.

Their national rankings are horrible year in and year out and yet the taxpayers of this state continue funding that joke of a university without demanding accountability.

How is success in academics a "moral victory"?

Sep 24, 2010, 9:31 AM [ in reply to Nice work, Tigers. I'm a proud member of the Moral Victory ]

It is what it is - success in academics.

As a two-time Clemson alumni, this makes me proud.

Where did this story appear? Why no Vandy or Ivy League?

no first year coaches are in the survey and the ivy league is in a different division. thought most of you coots could read.

Re: Swinney third nationally in APR

Sep 24, 2010, 8:49 AM

I didn't read the article. I just quickly looked at the list. But, since it is limited to schools whose has been there more than 1 year, where's Stanford?

I'm not knocking Dabo. For all I know he's doing a good job although it should be acknowledged that most who are included in this score are TB players. However, there's no way Stanford is not atop or near the top. So, I find the list to be suspect.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Stanford was tied for 14th, see link

Actually, Vickery Hall should be listed as 3rd in APR as they do all of the work and the coaches get the credit. Give the credit where it is due.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's a ranking to be proud of :)***
