quote from dabo....sound familiar?

Sep 28, 2009, 8:09 PM

"We have lost two games to top 15 teams by a total of seven points."

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Has Dabo called coach Saban yet to see how we looked yet

Sep 28, 2009, 8:10 PM

Doesn't Dabo know some of those Bama people?

Why not just come out and say "We have had 2 moral victories

and might get a real one soon."

Sep 28, 2009, 8:36 PM [ in reply to quote from dabo....sound familiar? ]

We lost a game 14-10, so let's fold up the football program?

Not everything goes perfectly in life. Adults understand that.
There's a game next Saturday.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wouldn't expect anything else...

Sep 28, 2009, 9:34 PM

however, there's a point to be made that Bowden was castigated on here for saying such things.
Dabo is loved on here yet he says the same things when the losses come.
Now, perhaps it's different people saying different things... but the fact remains that if you didn't like it from one guy you shouldn't like it from another.

You didn't answer the question..just what should he say

Sep 28, 2009, 9:37 PM [ in reply to and you expect him to say . . . what exactly? . . . ]

to make everyone happy? I, and many others, would really like to know.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you can't make everyone happy so do what makes you happy

And at the end of the day if you know you put your best foot forward...screw what everyone else thinks

He could just say we've lost 2 close games due to poor

Sep 28, 2009, 10:55 PM [ in reply to and you expect him to say . . . what exactly? . . . ]

execution in the red zone, dropped balls, and penalties and that we're working our arses off to make sure we don't make those mistakes again. The top 15 crap is TB-speak and Clemson fans are sick of it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then you'll get tired of that to!!!

Sep 29, 2009, 12:08 AM

Your problem, and a lot of others are that you read into things too much, b/c you are just plain upset with losses. Trust me, I hate losing. But I don't come here with negative talk after every loss. It doesn't help anyone.

You know the players and coaches are working their arses off to correct and fix things. You and everyone else doesn't need him to say that. To make it "fee" better. Doesn't matter what the head coach says.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think it's best for Dabo that he not sound like TB. All

Sep 29, 2009, 12:19 AM

we have heard the last 9 years were "we're one play away, this team lost too, etc". If I were Dabo, I would try as hard as possible to not sound like TB. The "top 15 team" line was definitely Bowden-esque.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He should say the coaches & the players made mistakes.

Sep 28, 2009, 11:46 PM [ in reply to and you expect him to say . . . what exactly? . . . ]

They only blamed the players for making execution mistakes, as though Napier planned and called a perfect game. I'd like to hear them say:

"We all made mistakes. The coaches could have game-planned, prepared the kids, and play-called better. And the players could have executed better. We'll all work hard to learn from our mistakes and we'll do better next time."

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Napier did say that they could coach better. I'll give him

Sep 28, 2009, 11:49 PM

credit for that. However, I'm not real happy that we have a coaching staff that is learning on the job.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Would that take the sting away? Make you feel better?******

Actually Razz....they did.

Sep 29, 2009, 7:50 AM [ in reply to He should say the coaches & the players made mistakes. ]

Swinney said, "we got beat. Coaching, execution and just poor mental mistakes." Then, Napier said, "I could have done better, having players where they need to be to make the plays." And they BOTH talked about the poor play calling in the red zone. I actually think our coaches are fessing up. My concern is the "7 points" statement. Sounds reminiscent of Tommy's "one play away" mantra.

..:: ru4god2 ::..

If they did, would you please show us & provide some links?

Sep 29, 2009, 12:06 PM

RU: Sorry to be a doubting Thomas, but if the coaches admitted to poor game-planning or play-calling after the TCU game, would you please provide links? I'd love to see them.

Except for maybe right after the GT game when Dabo said they got out-coached, I haven't seen the coaches say that they could have game-planned or play-called better. All of their quotes about coaching better imply that they need to coach the players to play better, not that they the coaches themselves could have game-planned or play-called better.

They've said stuff like this.

http://www.tigernet.com/view/story.do?id=8102

"Swinney said that he feels like he has a team that is on the cusp of winning games against good teams and ranked opponents, but now the onus is on the coaches to teach the players how to win."

"We had plays there to be made."

“Now we have to teach them how to win."

Sep 28, 2009, 10:04 PM [ in reply to quote from dabo....sound familiar? ]

the reason he exists" Get a clue, that is what coaches say they have to focus a negatively skewed media toward the updside.

Is what he said not true?

Sep 29, 2009, 6:09 PM [ in reply to quote from dabo....sound familiar? ]

him to say??? He isn't whining. He talked about the great effort by C.J. Spiller. What should he have said that would satisfy some of you -- "We lost games we should have won. We are losers. We can't win the big games. I should be fired." Good grief, LAY OFF THE GUY!!

Maybe there is a reason nobody answered you on the other thread. Maybe some of you should start pulling for the coks instead of just being one.
You know Dabo said they made mistakes coaching as well as the players did today in his media broadcast. This is his 1st full year coaching I hope yall didn't expect a National Championship this year. It takes a little while so relax and show some support like real fans should.

GO TIGERS!!!

A bucket of stick'em???

Oct 1, 2009, 8:05 AM

Do you think for one second you wanted those kids to catch the ball anymore than they wanted to catch the ball? As a fan, it's aggravating and worth complaining about, but to attack a kid? Why don't you just get into a 'your momma' word exchange with them. The maturity level would be about the same.
