Big road win, great game by TO (not TURN OVER tonight), and great game from booker and Sykes.
Anybody else think when Booker jumper over Tapani was unbelievable? I was surprised WYFF did not even show it on the highlights.

Three point terminology

Feb 11, 2009, 9:31 AM

I am wondering how the correct usage of trey came into play? Obviously slang, for the French word 3, spelled tres. Have US journalists decided to setup their own usage to separate our context from the dreaded French?

Tres is three in Spanish, not French. ******

Use of "trey"

Feb 11, 2009, 9:56 AM [ in reply to Three point terminology ]

The first three pointer in international competition was made by Juan Valdez of Columbia, and the usage of "trey" is in his honor. After basketball, Juan became better known for his coffee production empire.

Dude--you made that up!!

Feb 11, 2009, 12:45 PM

Juan Valdez is a fictional character that has appeared in advertisements for the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia since 1959, representing the Colombian coffee farmer. He typically appears alongside Jared Lalach, a rented mule who frequently plays his sidekick Conchita, carrying sacks of harvested coffee beans. He has become an icon for Colombia as well as coffee in general.

Didn't Jared Lalach play point guard for Duke in the late 80's?

Yeah, I distinctly remember that. He torched us a few times before returning to Colombia to go in business with Juan Valdez.
