Basketball polls are like spanking the monkey

They're good when you need immediate gratification but you really don't want to rely on them to get you through each day.

The polls are probably not accurate, but

Mar 10, 2008, 10:00 PM

I think Clemson deserves to be ranked, probably around 20.
That being said, the pollsters do not follow the Tigers as closely as I do. They are focusing on a lot more teams than me.

Polls are not important in basketball.

Mar 11, 2008, 12:10 PM

I acknowledge that we are a football school.
In football, the polls mean everything.

It is basketball season.
The polls are meaningless in basketball.

Conference Tournaments have already begun. The next team that wins 10 in a row will win their conference championship and the national championship.

For example: SC State plays tonight in the MEAC. If they win 4 in a row, they will be the MEAC Champs and receive an NCAA bid. If they win the next 6 in a row they will be National Champions.

In this play-off system, everyone has a chance to win it all, regardless of how they did in their regular or conference seasons.

Who wants a play-off system like this for football?

I would like a play off system in football...not as many teams but just a system better than bowls.
