THE TIGERS ARE IN MY HEART..... BUT THE DUCKS ARE IN MY PANTS....

Bad metric. Other leagues sending more teams, better bowls.

Dec 3, 2007, 3:50 AM

The other conferences did as good or better in the percentages of teams that they sent bowling. And the premier conferences got more top tier bowls.

SEC: 9 teams (75%). 2 BCS (incl. NC game.)
Big10: 8 teams (72%). 2 BCS (incl. NC game.)
Big12: 8 teams (67%). 2 BCS
BigE: 5 teams (63%). 1 BCS
ACC: 6 teams (50%). 1 BCS
Pac10: 5 teams (50%). 1 BCS

The best yardstick for determining if the ACC sucks will be the bowl results. I'll be pulling for every single ACC team. Over the last couple decades, the ACC exhibited parity, winning half of its bowl games against BCS conferences-- which is the same as all the other BCS conferences, except the Big10-- which only wins about 40%.

pretty sure

Dec 3, 2007, 8:36 AM

The title says 8 teams which is 67% and quality of bowls is very tough to determine because of the bowl games payouts to different conferences. For example, the Peach/Chick fil a tried to negotiate with the ACC and SEC to get a more favorable selection of teams. The ACC accepted, SEC did not.

He must have read the Gamecock paper , 8 teams in bowls.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're right. I'm brain-dead ACC looks pretty good at 75%.***

Re: Eight ACC Teams Head to Bowls

Glad to see the ACC's Tigers are going to be playing the SEC's Tigers in the Peach Bowl. It should be a great game played by two of the nation's greatest university's. Go Tigers!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Should be a good game but no ranking gain for CU with a win.

Dec 3, 2007, 3:14 AM

I wish we were playing a higher ranked team. If we lose to Auburn, we drop in the final rankings. And if we win, we may not go up. But it should be a good game.

Re: Should be a good game but no ranking gain for CU with a win.

Dec 3, 2007, 7:51 AM

Not true. MANY teams ahead of us right now have the potential to lose their bowl game and drop below us in the rankings: Missouri, Kansas, Hawaii, WVU, ASU, Illinois, and BC.

Of the ones above, Illinois & Hawaii are likely... Kansas, WVU, and ASU are probably 50/50. Missouri & BC should both be favored, but the trade-off is that if either team loses (to teams that are 8-4 and 7-5, respectively) the pollsters will punish them pretty severely.

It could be worse... How on EARTH is a really good FL team (#12 in the nation) playing an 8-4 unranked Michigan?!?

Or, how did Mizzou miss the BCS and why is ILL. in?***

Dec 3, 2007, 9:01 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

2 teams per conference rule

Dec 3, 2007, 10:15 AM

Oklahoma and Kansas are in from the Big 12. Personally, I think Missouri should be ranked above Kansas

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know, but what a joke it is...too many flaws to ignore...

Dec 3, 2007, 11:28 AM

too much bureaucracy to change it. The state of the BCS as we know it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Rose Bowl prefers Pac10 vs Big10 if possible. Tradition.***

Got to love it, Maryland goes bowling & the Coots are home f

Dec 3, 2007, 5:41 PM

for the hollidays. I guess a 6-6 record isn't good enough if you lose 5 of your last 6. Funny how after the Kentucky game, the team that was going to the SEC championship game for a rematch with LSU and a trip to play for the National Championship, did not even get a bowl invite.

Not to mention BAMA 6-6 goes to a Bowl.***
