piped in music is silly, but whatever floats your boat. I don't like the band either and wish they wouldn't come around to each section. They sound good across the stadium, which is where they should stay.

If you have, you know for a fact that they pipe in noise. It is not a rumor.

it would be pitiful. He may have implied he doesn't believe it, but never came out and said one way or the other.

Nice writeup, but NO on the "we finally respect them" thing.
Oct 5, 2006, 11:41 AM
|
|
They had our full attention last year, and we didn't beat them. Simple as that.
They had our full attention in 2004, and we shouldn't have won that game.
If and when we beat them on Saturday, it won't be because we "finally" respect them, or they "finally" have our attention. It'll be because we finally played to our capabilities, stopped allowing huge plays (there have been several in each of the last three years), and because our coaches have figured out a better way to scheme for WFU. It'll also be because we have a multi-dimensional offense that does not place the burden on any one player.

In addition, the convenience to one person who refused to go to the ATM is a tremendous nuisance to people who don't want to wait an addition 10 minutes so the 15 people in front of you can use their credit card.

About the piped in crowd noise

That DOES happen at WF. Last year it was so easy to tell that they we're making the crowd noise.

In Boston, BC had microphones setup in front of their band & student section & was piping it thru the public address speakers the entire game. They'd crank it up when we had the ball & you couldn't hear it when BC had the ball. We had BC fans around us complaining about it. It was sooo loud that you had to shout to talk to the person sitting next to you. Besides the end of the game, it too gave me a headache....

not Zombie Nation. It is by a DJ from Denmark who calls himself "Zombie Nation." The song is actually called Kernkraft 400 (Sport Chant Stadium Remix).
Pretty cool song too. Wish I could be in Death Valley to hear it. You hear it at a lot of futball matches here in Eurasia.

I am definitely onboard with this new crowd pleaser(I enjoy jumping up and down at games)! However, I think they need to use it like they did when they first brought it out and play it on third downs. Doing it on kickoff prevents everyone from putting their hands up. Other then that I think it works well to get everyone into it and I can't wait to see how it well it works for Georgia Tech and S Carolina.

I love the Woa-oho song
Oct 5, 2006, 3:27 PM
|

Not just because it gets the student section and other fans pumped up, but because it gets the PLAYERS pumped up. I have never seen the players actually paying attention to stadium music (on a consistent basis) until this year. Every time that song comes on, practically the entire kickoff team starts jumping up and down with the students. That makes my hair stand on end with excitement.

Oct 5, 2006, 7:02 PM

it is a Duke thing, started at their basketball games...
And I hate Duke and I hate doing anything those goobers came up with.
And I'm seeing it all over the tube now at other games...
How about something different ? ? ?

Actually Wake Started it
Oct 5, 2006, 8:04 PM
|
|
Have been hearing that song at Wake basketball games for at least two years now. Pretty sure that was the first place that I heard it.
The Dookies are just too good for something that hokie, until it started to work.
Now the bouncing thing is a Dookie tradition. So I guess this could be called a Waokie tradition. Morph of Duke and Wake.

Hey Scott. What is up with the replay guys. Notice how they will not replay the close calls. Come on... it has become part of the game.

Agreed. The credit card sales need to go elsewhere...
Oct 6, 2006, 8:09 PM
|
|
No doubt, money makes the world go round, it precedes progress. But we are strong enough to get by without making ###### of ourselves in the process. I too was approached just prior to kickoff at the UNC game, just wanting to find my way to my seat to see the Tigers excel. Apparently, the persons hawking the cards are getting a decent cut for a sale. I suppose they are students, and as we all know, students need a lot of pizza money. So I don't blame the seller so much, but I know our University must be behind this. So let's all let our opinions be known.
