yep, I was at the game when they played Western.............

Willie played well in a very run oriented offense under Ellis Johnson. He should've played more in 2001 and I think it would've prepared him for being a starter in 2002.

Welcome home, Willie.***

This speaks volumes about both Willie and the circumstances

Aug 3, 2006, 12:32 PM

involved in his transfer.

Some folks would have you believe he was bitter towards Bowden and Clemson, but his return to work under Tommy shows Willie's maturity and that he understands the circumstances behind his "demotion".

I remember him "coaching" Woody Dantzler a lot on the sidelines and Woody credited Willie for a lot of his success. I look forward to seeing him impact the team.

Willie is gonna be a great coach. he has a great throwing

motion, takes good steps, has good feet and field vision......his hands were just to small to hold onto the ball IMO. Im glad he is back. Willie is pure class IMO

i remember him coaching Woody too. My friend and I thought he was one of the best coaches on the sidelines at that time.

Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.

Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

yeah i remember i was working in CVS that night and the manager on duty was a clemson student and the pharamist that night was a clemson alum. we listened to the game and the first 17 points by UNC were heard by an empty store but about the second willie simmons TD pass and the place was waking up! it was a great victory and a fun night at work. Welcome back Willie!!!!!

My only regret about Willie

Aug 3, 2006, 7:16 PM

was he didn't start the second half after Charlie was getting abused by TexTech in the Bowl.

We were getting out of reach, and a change of pace/change of target could not have hurt either.

Willie is CLASS! Proud he is a TIGER!
