Death Valley scrimmage insider: Defense and Clelin Ferrell shine

You would expect that Clemson’s talented and experienced defense would be a little ahead of the offense this time of the year, and that was the case Saturday when the Tigers held a two-hour scrimmage in Death Valley. Full Story »

Clelin Ferrell is going to be unstoppable...

Our defense as a whole will wreak havoc on opposing offenses this year.

Bryant best he's ever looked? LOL @ opposing offenses!

That's a scary thought. Seriously, ask Alabama

What about Dexter Lawrence? His foot injury is concerning? ???

D sounded strong. Pleased with QB play. Not sure of corners, but may be hard to cover our WRs.

I really hope one of these QB's develop consistency and pull ahead of the others. Seems like each day one is looking better than the rest and Bryant is hanging on by default. Still got a few weeks, but we're going to need one of them to make the coaches say " Ok that's def our guy".

My gut is that we don't really know who will...

Aug 12, 2017, 7:14 PM

be the man until after a game or three. We will act like we do, but we will be sorting it out fr a few games.

Despite what Dabo said, it sound like Bryant had the worst

outing, although it was probably against the first team D?

Ferrell looks like he has toned up some. Weight about the same, but strength training is taking him to the next level this year. Glad to hear A. Bryant is looking helathy as well. On QB's, competition will always be there and more to come. Don't know if KB played with ALL first team, on both sides of the ball. If I had to guess, I would say yes. Things are still being worked out in his game according to Dabo.

Again though, ZC & HJ are working hard to be the next guy. Probably won't know for sure until we see them all in live game action. However, I do trust Dabo will have the right man in at the right time.
Defense is going to be a nightmare for opposing OC'S and our DE pass rush is amongst the elite in the nation. It's going to be a good year. Call me an optimist, but we still TOO DEEP.

I think having 2 or 3 QBs is a good thing, a very good thing! Today is not for those who want 50 plays a game and QBs that stay in the pocket. GaT may run 50 plays a game but there QB leaves the pocket on every play. 100 plays a game is too many for any player. At any level , they will lose their legs by the end of the season.
