Amite, La. home of Michael Carr, one of the highest rated

recruits that Danny nabbed in the late 80s. Strange article I found when I googled him:

CLEMSON - Michael Carr

CLEMSON - Michael Carr, whose recruitment to Clemson has reportedly been the subject of an NCAA investigation, has left school abruptly and his whereabouts is unknown, the university announced last night. Clemson Sports Information Director Tim Bourret said Carr went to the Clemson train station yesterday morning, where a train was scheduled to leave at 5:35 a.m. “Either another player or another person affiliated with the team took him to the train station but didn’t wait to see him leave on the train,” Bourret said. “We don’t know where he went. He could have gone home.” Bourret said he did not know who took Carr to the train station but that that Carr had taken belongings from his dormitory room. An Amtrak employee last night said no reservation had been booked under the name Michael Carr for the only train out of Clemson that leaves at 5:35 a.m. bound for New Orleans. Carr’s hometown is Amite, La. The train arrived on schedule at 6:50 p.m., New Orleans time. A second Amtrak employee said the train was sold out, and that reservations are required. Bourret said the 20-year-old redshirt freshman participated in Wednesday afternoon’s intrasquad scrimmage, and that coach Danny Ford and other Clemson officials were trying to contact Carr and his family last night. “I don’t know if he’s been in contact,” Bourret said. “We don’t want to give the impression that he’s in any kind of danger.” There was no answer to repeated phone calls to Clemson Athletic Director Bobby Robinson’s house last night. Earlier yesterday, Robinson refused comment on a report published in yesterday’s editions of The (Columbia) State and the Herald-Journal concerning a possible probe of Carr’s recruitment. The story quoted a woman whose son played high school football with Carr as saying she had lied to NCAA investigators who inquired about changes in Carr’s lifestyle and an expensive car he had been driving. The report said one Louisiana source indicated the automobile, a 1988 Toyota Supra, had been purchased by Carr’s brother, Chuck Brown. Reached at his Baton Rouge home last night, Brown would not comment on the story or Carr’s whereabouts. Clemson Director of News Services Catherine Sams issued a release yesterday afternoon saying a four-person university panel had been formed to investigate possible improprieties, with special emphasis on the Clemson football program. “Significant matters that come to our attention, regardless of source, involving alleged NCAA rules violations will be investigated and will be presented in a report to the NCAA and the public at an appropriate time,” Robinson was quoted as saying in the release. “We will not respond to reports in the media on an individual basis.” The panel, appointed by Robinson, Clemson President Max Lennon, and Vice President for Student Affairs Nick Lomax includes: Chairman Joe Mullins, professor of chemical engineering; Cecil Huey, professor of chemical engineering and a member of Clemson’s athletic council; Ben Anderson, university counselor; and Lennon. The panel will assist Lomax and Robinson in determining whether NCAA, Atlantic Coast Conference or university rules have been violated, and will make its findings available to the public, the release said. “Clemson has been the subject of some fairly sensational media coverage and, naturally, we’re interested in discovering how much, if any, of that information is true,” Robinson said in the release. “So far, the information we have is in the realm of rumor, and nothing we have checked out so far indicates violations.” While Carr has been singled out in published reports as a possible subject of investigation, Robinson said Clemson had still not received any letter of preliminary inquiry from the NCAA. But, he said, the new panel being formed would try to investigate the university from within. “We still have not been informed of any official action planned by the NCAA, but we shouldn’t have to wait for them to tell us we have a problem,” he said. Bourret said Robinson knew of the news reports about Carr and was looking into the allegations. “He’s aware of the articles that appeared in the state papers today about Michael Carr and the questioning of his car, and that’s what he’s checking into right now.” Bourret said he did not know if Robinson had spoken to Carr as of yesterday afternoon. I remember seeing him play in the Spring Game. He would have been an excellent qb in Danny's offense.

This kid is a stud and only going into his junior year!!! I'll be following this kids recruiting. Would be great addition to the 19 class. Man it's crazy to see what our recruiting has evolved into. Let's land this stud and have another stacked class after this epic 18 class is signed and in orange!! Go Tigers building a Dynasty
