'Best Is Standard' more than just a phrase to Brent Venables

The fiery part of defensive coordinator Brent Venables surfaced following Monday's practice, and it was evident he was passionate about the type of student-athletes that have come through the Clemson program under head coach Dabo Swinney. What does he say about the graduation rates? What does he say about Clemson compared to other football schools? Full Story »

I kid you not. There's the right way, the wrong way, and the Clemson way. Deviate from the Clemson way and you better have a thousand good reasons and you'll STILL get an argument from me. I kid you not.

great read, thanks nikki.***

Hey, this is the reason we have the coaches that we do at Clemson. Money is important, but character is priceless. You earn it every day! It can be lost in an instant by all the tempting things out there. Coach M and V both enjoy this standard and love it here at Clemson!

Powerful article. Coach View truly loves it here and

The credit goes to Coach Swinney. I couldn't be more proud of the head coach, staff, student athletes, and program. It's more than just about the W's.

Sorry, phone error. Should have proofread. Coach V*****

It's about W's, but it's so much more about life, if that makes sense.

This is a HOF article on TigerNet!
I'm a believer that this has nothing to do with hype...just the facts about how our programs foundation is designed!
It is ingenious innovation.
I'm so encouraged about the future of success on the field and about the fact of how us fans can hold our heads high concerning the integrity of educating and the growth of character the staff is helping to provide in these young men!
IM ALL IN! GO TIGERS!!!

Three words? Best is THE standard.

Was Venables talking about FSU when he said this?

"When your talent maybe isn't there sometimes, I think your character, culture and philosophy, I think they trump talent."

I think that this is why Dabo has kept this staff together. Teaching kids to be of high character makes their jobs that much easier. When ever BV, or Morris leave to take over a program of their own. I'M BETTING MY MONEY that their programs will be modeled after the new way they have learned at Clemson and by following in the steps and directions of first time HC Dabo Swinney. They have learned a different better way from the new guy on the block!!!

Didn't realize Boise State had such a great academic record.***

CDS will retire as the best coach we have ever had. I know Chad and BV would like to be HCs somewhere but for purely selfish reasons I hope they never leave. I read something like this and I say to myself, "Thank goodness Clemson ain't like fill in the blank..." In 38 years of Tiger fandom I've never been prouder to be a Tiger fan and it is largely because of the culture there. When we win a NC with this staff and players it will be done the right way with no clouds over it.....no drama like at any SEC school off the field or like at FSU which might as well be in the SEC as shady as that place has always been. Thank goodness we aren't the Chickens or any other school for that matter. Stanford ain't a bad place to have something important in common with....spot the #### ball!
