New Story: The Conversation

Jun 16, 2014, 9:27 AM

The Conversation

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney sat down in his golf cart for an impromptu talk with Clemson commit Chad Smith and 5-star defensive tackle Tim Settle, a conversation that left Smith in awe. What was the gist of the conversation? What are Smith's thoughts on Swinney following the conversation? Full Story »

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

bothers me where Settle is looking

Jun 16, 2014, 9:52 AM

He is not looking at Dabo, or Smith...Just staring out. It is a still shot with no context so it could be that the picture is not representative of the conversation. But if it is, Tim Settle has not bought in yet.

My take is different based on Smith's words

Sounds more to me that Swinney was talking about his personal history and doing some "witnessing" that I've read about from the past. When you are getting a heavy dose of things to think about, looking away and absorbing seems pretty natural.

But we are just guessing based on 1/64th of a second or whatever.

Do you work for the National Enquirer, b/c our Inquiring minds want to know exactly whats on Settle's mind in that pic. Wait a minute, that's the job of a Psychic, is that you Sylvia Browne? :)

Coach Sweeney, in my opinion, is a different Head Coach than most. He is very honest and wants you to be part of the Clemson family. He stresses key points. Integrity, honesty and hard work in the class room, as well as on the football field. He wants you to develop to your fullest capability both on the field and off. This is the main reason that Tiger Football is improving on a yearly basis and will continue to do great things in the future.

Psychic Sylvia Browne, the psychic that says she can talk to the dead, and tell people what they are thinking, or what they were wearing at a party a year ago. A NUT CASE mostly!!!

Coach DABO simply tells the truth! I would much rather get a recruit that knows the deal vs. some spoiled kid with a "i'm the only " attitude that expects it on a platter like a RN. Clemson recruits are quality recruits but most importantly QUALITY human beings! We won't have to worry about suspensions, arrests and the like with quality young men! We'll miss on a few because the transition and the popularity is more than some can handle. But DABO invest first in quality young men then takes the best athletes available that meet his criteria. Parents are catching on! The odds are with the DABO strategy!

CDS - More than just a football coach

Jun 16, 2014, 10:50 AM

He's a life coach. He changes these kids lives far beyond the football field. I couldn't be prouder of the man chosen to represent our university as the head ball coach.

Swinney is different from other Head Coaches when it comes to caring about the total person. Nice to have a coach like that.
