what is competing at the top level in rowing? No boats capsize? No one falls out? ;)

Winning an ACC title, being top 20 every year

Posted: May 29, 2014 12:19 PM

He had a really good first year (first non-Virginia ACC champion ever), but hasn't been able to do much since.

Huh?

Posted: May 28, 2014 11:30 AM

We aren't a national power yet but we are a top 25 team. This is a bit of a head scratcher.

it's obvious this team has been going steadily...

[5]
Posted: May 28, 2014 11:42 AM

downstream the last few years

There are only like 80 teams that compete in Division 1

Posted: May 28, 2014 11:45 AM

Rowing. There are top-25 teams that don't even make it to the NCAA Championship field since it's a 22-team field...and it says we've missed out the past 3 years.

this is a great reminder of why we hired DRad...

Posted: May 28, 2014 11:50 AM

I didn't realize how much I have been settling with my expectations in rowing.

I hope all you Tenenbaum haters are happy!***

Rowing was added....

because it was a relatively inexpensive way to comply with Title IX gender equity requirements. It's just that simple.

But we are a float in the lake and drink beer school

might as well have some folks that can row us back to shore.

Mostly true. But since we have put resources into rowing

Posted: May 28, 2014 12:13 PM

Clemson has become well-known in rowing circles and has brought team from all over the US and Canada to Lake Hartwell. In fact I think several weeks ago Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, Michigan, and many others were on our campus doing the rowing thing.

I know - I was being fecetious.

You know, the old "basketball doesn't matter - we are not a basketball school" deal.

ACC tournament, youth regionals, and other big races

Are hosted at Clemson every year. The US and Canadian national teams have trained in Clemson during winters, as have numerous northern Division I schools. Cold-climate club teams even do Spring training at Clemson.

We're kind of a big deal. Few schools have what we do in being right on a lake that is ideally suited for rowing.

It probably should. How many ACC championships have we won

in the last 10 years? Football. And then ???

Ok. So let's ditch rowing and bring back swimming***

The University discontinued swimming....

because they did not want to spend millions of dollars on a new or newly renovated and desperately needed aquatics facility. The McHugh Natatorium isn't bad but cetainly not comperable to what other schools in the conference and across the southeast have.

You should have seen his two predecessors

One was a psycho ##### who slept with one of her rowers (fired because of this and horrible results), and the more recent was so abrasive that he was fired despite being pretty successful.
