New Story: Throwback Thursday: Brentson Buckner

May 22, 2014, 9:54 AM

Throwback Thursday: Brentson Buckner

In the first of a series of articles where TigerNet catches up with former Clemson athletes, we catch up with former defensive lineman Brentson Buckner. What does Buckner say about the defense of his era? What does he think about the losses to South Carolina? What does he say about this year's defensive line? Photo by Mark J. I am open to all ideas....I reconnected with Emory Smith this week and thought that might be a good one. And of course there are plenty, plenty of others

#99, IMO, the best DT we ever have had

May 22, 2014, 1:14 PM

Jeff Bryant. Lined up all over the DL and lived in the backfield. Heck of a 12 yr. career with Seahawks after 1st round draft pick. I would love to hear what hes up to.

He is up there but he is not better than the Perry brothers.

This will be a great series of stories

I'd like to make one suggestion. See if you can find out what Skip Wise is doing these days. I believe he is, or was, working for a Recreation Department in Baltimore.

Ahhh Memories ----

May 22, 2014, 10:14 AM

He was a good player. I still rememember that
Citrus Bowl punch against Cal. I'm surprised that
it took so long to catch up with him to get an
interview.

Chester McGlockton threw that punch in the Citrus Bowl against Cal, not Brenston. He was a good player though and would like to see him as a candidate as our D-line coach at some point.

So you mean to tell me that they threw the wrong guy out
of the game? Because after that punch Buckner did not
come back. He was standing at the locker room entrance
for awhile before he turned around to go to the locker
room.

You are right it was Chester for sure

Yep, unfortunately I was there for that cold, wet miserable game. That game was the beginning of the end for Hatfield and started the decline of our program that we're just now recovering from.

Literally, from coaching little league football directly to coaching the pro's in the blink of an eye. I watched it unfold with my own eyes... it was only a matter of time. Great job on the article! His 10yr old son is going to be a beast! Remember the name Brandon Buckner!
