Smith and Venables: a match made in heaven

It was the relationship that Chad Smith forged with Venables during a high school camp, the similarities between their personalities and the value Clemson places on family that led the Sterling (VA) Dominion outside linebacker to commit to Clemson Thursday afternoon. Full Story »

I was just watching Chad Smith film for the first time today. The head hunter part is true, but he has a nose for always being around where the ball is. I'm thinking that he will be much better than his now star rating implies he is.

Great size.

recruits talk about the uniqueness of what Clemson has to offer. This kid has been to Penn State, Va Tech, UNCheat, UVa, WVU, etc. and finds Clemson to offer a superior experience. That's awesome.

GO TIGERS!!!

Can't put a price on the value

Of the difference between a football player and an athlete. Pretty sure this kid is a basketball player too. Probably hasn't even begun to pack on the muscle he could onto that frame.

Wow we are recruiting tall defensive players now. Pretty soon our D will be a forest. I think with an extra 10-15 pounds this kid can be very productive at the WILL. I like this pickup.

If this kid is as intense as Coach Venables, then

Venables Seems To Find These Certain Guys ----

Posted: Apr 11, 2014 1:18 PM

I have watched Venables's teams on defense when he
was at Oklahoma and now here. He just seems to have a
knack for finding these linebackers that will do the
intense dirty work in the game. The ones who is either
all over the field or they show up and cause havoc at
the right percise time. I mean its been Rocky Calmus,
Spencer Shuey[eventhough we already had him, Venables
molded him a bit] Kellen Jones, Stephone Anthony and
I do believe Boulware is going to start that next wave
of enforcers that do the dirty work.

LOL
