This could be a gigantic "get" for Clemson basketball if

this Smits kid is half as good as his Dad--coupled, of course, with the fact that he's seven feet tall and the ability of Coach Brownell and his staff to develop players.

Dang....being this optimistic about Clemson basketball reminds me strongly of the way so many of us felt when Bill Foster first took over as HC. In those days, Duke was the worst team in the conference and Clemson was competing with the upper echelon of the ACC---the Duke part didn't last long. It took Coach K a few years to get his program in Durham well recruited and familiar with the system he wanted to run........It just feels like Coach Brownell is on the verge of really setting Clemson basketball sailing for brighter horizons.

Anyhow, I hope young Mr. Smits is treated to a raucous atmosphere in LJ and a Clemson victory securing 5th place in the ACC.

I like that this is second visit. Hopefully it means he is interested. I hope the people he sits in front of dont complain about not being able to see. :)

Can't hurt our chances that father Rik Smits played with another Clemson great - he and Dale Davis were together in the NBA.
