We are so blessed with the most awesome coaching staff who love and develop talent!! We are going to mess around and get a national title!
I'm glad Dabo was given the chance to show he could do more than recruit. He is a great delegator, recruiter, leader of boys to men, coach and man of faith!!
I think Clemson is becoming known as the special place it is. If my son was playing for a coach and had incredible talent ( we to deep) I would trust him in the hands of Dabo and his staff including Batson!!
Thank you God for Blessing us with the best school on earth!! Go Tigers!

Remember that Spence has signed a LOI to be a walkon, so that leaves us with 2 spots left if 20 is the number.

Why use 2 schollies on 0-star Davis's? Gift to Jeff Davis?
Feb 5, 2014, 1:05 PM
|
|
According to Scout, Rivals, 247, & ESPN, the Davis brother are unranked and unrecruited. So if the Davis brothers weren't the sons of Jeff Davis, they'd be preferred walk-ons, at best, right?
Jeff Davis can afford to pay their tuition for a year until they could prove whether or not they deserve scholarships, right?
This seems like very inappropriate insider quid pro quo.

sooner(pay their own way), they can but if they do so then their 5 year clock to play 4 starts this fall instead of next-- not a very wise move if you aren't going to see the field in the near term--- the other thing to note about these 2 is I believe they are very young for their grade-- may even be a grade ahead age wise. I think the staff believes these guys will be able to play at some point and still have a lot of growth potential as players.
They have the same deal as Spence and maybe even Williams. Spence didn't have to come in this fall but by doing so, he will burn a RS if he can't beat out the kickers currently on the roster. Spence also indicted he has academic scholarship $ to use this fall.

You do not know if the scholarships will be wasted, I trust the coaches evaluations of players, your opinion has been wrong many times, and likely is just as wrong this time.

JD and Judah will be 17 when they graduate HS, about year ahead of their normal age group. Both are over 6 ft and 200 pounds and everyone who has seen them knows they can play.... with another year of maturity they might have been 4 or 5 stars.??? who knows. i look foreward to hearing the naysayers admit their mistake!

Sounds similar to what some said about Adam Humphries when he was recruited by Clemson and no one else.. I think he was a 2 star if he was rated. I like the way he plays football. I have no doubt you will think the same about those Davis boys by the time they graduate!

Big difference to 2-star Humphries & HUGE coincidence 2 bros
Feb 5, 2014, 2:35 PM
|
|
I hope you're right that the Davis boys pan out to be hidden gems. But Humphries was at least rated and fast.
Occasionally, you get an unknown like Philip Price who surprises, but Price was a walk-on who earned his scholly.
It's just way too much of a coincidence that TWO unranked guys are BOTH hidden gems AND their dad essentially works for Dabo.

I thought their Dad worked of us and has for a while even when he was not paid to do so. I look forward to seeing his sons play and would have hated for them to play anywhere but Clemson. I think you should wait to gripe about a young man until he has proved he is not worth a scholarship. We have one on scholarship now that seems to fit that criteria..... Region, has he ever played a down? He was a 4 star recruit out of HS.

Preferred walk-ons, not schollies that could be better used.
Feb 6, 2014, 4:57 PM
|
|
I'm fine with the Davis brothers walking on and possibly earning scholarships like anybody else of their caliber. I'm fine with Clemson paying Jeff Davis for his services.
Of course, not all ranked players pan out and some unranked walk-ons become contributors.
But when you have a limited number of scholarships, it seems like foolish nepotism to risk 2 scholarships on 2 unranked players. It's not like they were invisible, playing for some unknown high school.

when they are both 6-6 and 280 in a couple of years you may eat those words. that is where they are projected. here is an idea. lets let the coaches coach and recruit and we as fans can support them and cheer them on. novice idea i know.
