So our best OL recruit this year is a Shrine Bowl backup to two USC recruits and a Florida recruit? So much for getting tough and winning in the trenches. Why are we taking Two OL a year and 10 DB's a year??????

Re: Probably because our secondary is consistently more bad

If you think our Secondary has been consistently more bad than our OL, than you have only watched a couple years of Clemson Football. Our OL has been below average to average the last 20 years. I agree on the star ratings not holding a ton of weight for OL, but why are we taking only TWO. Didn't we just lose two OL this year to career ending injuries?

Yes and 2 to graduation, and Mclain moved to OL from TE and Gore moved to OL from DL! 2 commits for this class.. we lost 4 gained 4! The numbers are in line with most other programs out their we do not need numbers but I agree we need a better OL. But the problem is not the numbers we have.

We were also low on numbers at DB last year, WR this year

I'm getting kind of tired of the people who have complained about recruiting on the lines when we're already relatively deep on the lines. Meanwhile, we've cleaned up at the positions of need (DB, WR, LB), and they still complain about that because apparently having a full roster of skill players makes us "soft." Nevermind how stacked we are on the DL, or the fact that we're only losing one guy off of the OL again this year.

You'll see a 5-star OL like Robert Crisp at NCSU go

his whole college career and never really contribute, then you'll see a guy who came out of high school under-weight, under-coached, and under-rated, become a high NFL draft pick and an anchor on some pro team for years.

Last year we were way short on DBs! We are not taking 10 DBs this year! I have no doubt that if we can get a commit from a 4* or 5* OL we will take them. There are not many of them and we do need some but our numbers on the OL are fine. We have about 17 after losing Timothy and this years commits. We are likely to take 4 or 5 next year.

High School vs College

Problem is, its hard to prepare against the size and speed in HS you'll go up against in college. Won't say he can't play as a true fr. Its just hardly unlikely.

If another school gets a "better" lineman we aren't

"good enough" to many who post here it seems. They covet what the other team has without really looking hard at what we have.
We are doing better each year. Until we know more about the 2015 class, and until we see how the current squad turns out injury and development-wise, I can't say we have a future problem. Many nervous Nellies here already have determined we do.
