He was committed to Florida for most of his recruitment.
When he decommitted, Clemson was focusing on Gurley and Marshall. James tried to get him to Clemson late in the process, but I just think it was too late.

No. James wanted him to come to Clemson, and he was very disappointed that we backed off Mike when he chose the coots. I don't think Mike ever showed that he was a Clemson lean. He has turned out to be better than I thought he would be at usuc. He is a good RB. Is he better than the ones we have? Who knows. He has had the benefit of a better OL than we have had, and I am certain that has helped his numbers, but for him to become a coot is something he never will live down. I know James is very disappointed in his little brother's lack of judgement.
