McDaniels' career night leads Tigers past Hatters in season opener

Clemson junior swingman K.J. McDaniels scored a career-high 20 points and the Tigers used a 33-5 run over the last 15 minutes of the first half to claim a 71-51 victory over Stetson in the season opener. Full Story »

Where were the students?

Nov 9, 2013, 9:21 AM

Could not believe how empty Littlejohn was last night.

The student sections were never more than 1/4 full.

The frisbee dogs at halftime generated more noise from the crowd than the game did.

Don't Blame the Students for Not Attending

Nov 9, 2013, 9:54 AM

I'm a long time basketball season ticket holder and I would not attend the basketball games if I were a student today. The Administration makes it as difficult as possible for students to attend games.

Season ticket holder here. Please explain.

I agree with half of that statement

Nov 9, 2013, 11:19 AM [ in reply to Don't Blame the Students for Not Attending ]

I graduated last May, and I agree that the administration has made the ticket policy increasingly more confusing and unnecessarily difficult. I think it discourages a lot of the students from attending.

That being said, it never stopped me from missing many games at all, so still not much of an excuse for true fans

No excuse, but with no football this weekend a lot of

Nov 9, 2013, 12:32 PM [ in reply to Where were the students? ]

local students probably went home for the weekend. Attendance will be down this year as expectations are basically nonexistent. We somehow win some games, they'll show up. Been that way with Clemson basketball forever

Had a word for students who went home on weekends.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

i work on campus and leaving yesterday afternoon and on the way to the game last night, it didn't look like that many kids were gone for the weekend

there was a men's soccer game at the same time last night, and i'm sure some students went to that instead of BB

when I was at Clemson during Bobby Robert's and the Mahaffey Brothers, I never missed a game and never saw a game that wasn't a sellout with students. Of course we played in the gym at Fike (where the swimming pool is now)and it would only hold 2000-2500 and all you needed to get in was a student ID card.

Game and get a atudebt ticket like 10 minutes before. That includes Duke and UNC games.
The problem is, students don't realize this. It seemed like I was telling a handful of students every week you could just walk up and get tickets and each one of then was stunned by that.
