Nation's No. 1 Dual Threat QB is a big Clemson fan, will visit this weekend

Asiantii Woulard is a 4-star quarterback out of Winter Park (FL) who beat out Max Browne [committed to Southern Cal] and Christian Hackenberg [committed to Penn St.] to win Elite 11 honors. Full Story »

Even if Watson keeps commitment we need competition at every position... anyone not wanting to compete does not want to play big boy football.... Competition can make you better.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Watson will definately play "big boy" football. Is NFL

Jan 14, 2013, 7:28 PM

"biggest boy" football? That said, with Watson talking visits and what happened with some of our "commitments" this year, Clemson would not be wise to put all their eggs in one basket. Good for the goose, good for the gander.

Is Watson really better than this guy??

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He would be a great scout team qb

Jan 14, 2013, 6:00 PM

And a good backup for chad kelly

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This guy will def. redshirt if he comes to Clemson....

Jan 14, 2013, 6:14 PM

after Tajh leaves it will be an interesting battle between Him, Chad Kelly, Stoudt, and Watson if he comes.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Asiantti and Kelly should...

Jan 14, 2013, 6:42 PM

be the 2 battling for num #1...should?

are better than others or HS players that I think are special, but I also know that a lot of those don't pan out for one reason or another. I also understand that even the best coaches and evaluators miss one every now and then. That's why it's kind of funny when I see people already predicting Woulard's role at Clemson.

Isn't the same true for Watson. Isn't he a junior in HS???

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Scout team?!? This guy might be our starter one day.

Jan 14, 2013, 6:49 PM [ in reply to He would be a great scout team qb ]

Was Chad Kelly the Elite 11 MVP? As great as Kelly sounds, I wouldn't discount a 6'3" QB from Florida considered by many to be the top dual threat QB in the nation.

Jan 14, 2013, 7:12 PM

Assuming we land Woulard, there is no way any of us has a clue as to how good he or any of our QBs will be once they actually set foot on campus or start taking live snaps in real games. I get excited about these undeniably talented recruits playing at Clemson as much as anybody, but a lot of people lock onto one player and decide they are "the one" having never even seen them play.

If anything, based on HS performance and rating, it would be hard to make a case for Kelly beating out Woulard.

Assuming Kelly could beat him out. This guy sounds phenomenol.

You cannot just shut down shop for one guy. We have a program to run. You think OSU isnt going to bring in more quarterbacks. Heck im sure they will sign at least 2 qb all americans between now and then. We are the least of his worries

As far as Woulard goes NC St. Is pissed. They had this guy all but gift wrapped to them. Now....the program he grew up rooting for offers him a scholly. I like it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oooooooh, he's pretty tall!

Jan 14, 2013, 6:29 PM

If he keeps growing, he could be the next Logan Thomas.

Wait. LT sucks.

Logan Thomas.....Pipe Dream. Nobody can be as tall as Logan Thomas. He is the tallest QB ever. There will never be another Logan Thomas. He is like the Mohicans

Very simple. If a national #1 ANYTHING becomes available you go and get him whether you need him or not.

Absolutely!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hack looked like a hack in the UA game...haven't seen Browne

Jan 14, 2013, 8:33 PM

The PSU guy looked horrible in the UA to me...I know the defense has the advantage in those games. A QB going to prep school would make me nervous to if he isn't too bright.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's CRAZY...

Jan 14, 2013, 8:36 PM

that we have the potential to basically have three qb's in a row that have performed very well at the elite 11. That's great!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just 3?

Jan 14, 2013, 8:57 PM

Might want to add Korn and Parker to that list.

I stand corrected, I completely forgot that.

Yea this is a total win. Losing somebody who wasn't ALL IN in exchange for a younger and probably better player AND he's a Clemson fan AND his dad seems to be excited about it.

Talk about lucky.

How was he driving to Columbia and back from Winter Park

everyday. Thats like a 18 hour round trip.

exactly! not to mention columbia is NOT the clemson area

Jan 15, 2013, 8:57 AM [ in reply to How was he driving to Columbia and back from Winter Park ]

Clemson is another 100 miles north.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why is there seemingly little interest in him?

Jan 15, 2013, 12:02 AM

From major schools, I mean.

2024 student level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg2008_ncaa_champ.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-clemsonpoker489.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If he is the number one dual threat qb in the Country

Jan 15, 2013, 10:17 AM

Why did Winter Park only win four games last year. This doesn't add up. This guy looks like a beast, but why wasn't he able to lead his team to more wins. Maybe they have horrible coaches??

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: If he is the number one dual threat qb in the Country

Jan 15, 2013, 11:14 PM

If he got MVP of the Elite 11 competition he's probably legit. Not every offense can use a dual threat QB and maybe some schools already knew he wasn't interested. You would think given the last few Heisman winners schools would kill for the #1 dual. We'll see. He seems like a good and talented kid so we should at least give him a shot and really test him out on campus. Its not like we are putting all our eggs in one basket here. We would certainly redshirt him since for the next 2-3 years we are covered with QB's.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

#1 Dual threat QB in nation?

Jan 16, 2013, 3:11 AM

Why is this kid not committed before now. Won the Elite 11. Looks like we would had room even with out Morgan leaving.. he's big, strong, tall with speed. David doing a great job...
