So he takes his team on the road so he can check out restaurants. Really? I thought he was the coach. I guess I was wrong about that.

Good for Jimmy. He would have loved it in the early '90's. Arby's, Chanelo's, or Keith St? That being said, they'll fly into G-ville, which, coming from someone who has lived in Greenville and spent too many days with relatives in and around Syracuse, I must say the quality eating choices in G-Ville are leagues ahead of 'Cuse.
One caveat is a hat tip to Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse, which is pretty friggin' awesome

Also, in terms of college-town feel, it's very very good. It's a totally different vibe than Clemson seeing as it's in a city, but it's still very cool nonetheless. I had some great times partying at PC right after I graduated from Clemson.

in the "new" ACC yet seeing fit to badmouth Clemson constantly is just too much.
I've never seen a guy whine so much about a move that is such a huge win for his institution. The rest of Syracuse is thanking their lucky stars that we let them in and he's acting like the ACC is lucky. But they're welcome to go back to the Big East. It would take us about 15 minutes to replace them with a comparable academic and athletic institution.

Let's face it guys: the food in/around Clemson isn't very good. It's not really the fault of Clemson since it's such a small town located in the middle of nowhere...but outside a couple of local joints like Pixie & Bill's, Calhoun Corners, and a few others, it's run-of-the-mill chain restaurants.

Well, 4 years at Clemson...I don't come back to Clemson often since I'm originally from Boston and now live in Brasil, so maybe I'm missing some of the new stuff.
Either way, I'm not really a huge fan of Southern Food.

Never have liked him. A couple of points:
Jan 10, 2013, 10:57 AM
|
|
1) He was STILL whining about not having made the NCAAs a few years back when he had to come to Clemson for an NIT game (this was 3 rounds in, I believe) and that's ALL he talked about.
2) We were a 1 seed. They weren't even an NIT 1 seed and he was complaining about having been left out.
3) They got their rear ends handed to them.
4) I don't know what he's complaining about. We do have a Chick-Fil-A on campus. Do they have those in Syracuse?
5) Pretty bad form if that's him. Seems beneath most coaches not named Spurrier. With his win totals and success, you'd think he'd have some class. Does not appear to. Gotta say, this is so ridiculous that I wonder if it's accurate.
6) Screw him anyway.

In fairness, a John Feinstein article at the time did point out the NIT Selection Committee didn't consider Syracuse to be on the bubble and considered them a lock for the NCAA. They also didn't consider Arkansas to have any shot at getting in. So they set up the little regional tilt between Arkansas and South Alabama.
So they were caught off-guard and rather than reshuffle everything, just plugged SU in at the #2 spot they had for Arkansas.
